Sparrow arrived in Apex Legends Season 25 as one of the more distinctive Recon Legends the game has seen in a while. Armed with a gauntlet that fires tracking darts, a double jump that opens up vertical play most Legends can only dream about, and an ultimate that locks down areas with electric shock pulses, Enea Davide Guarino brings a playstyle that rewards aggression and smart positioning in equal measure. Here's everything you need to know to get the most out of him.

Who is Sparrow?

Sparrow (real name Enea Davide Guarino) is a 20-year-old from Psamathe, voiced by Loris Scarpa. He's classified as a Recon Legend, which means he gets access to Survey Beacon scanning just like Bloodhound, Crypto, and the rest of the recon roster.

His background is worth knowing because it feeds directly into his personality in-game. Enea was raised inside the Clessidra Rossa, a bounty hunter clan with a rigid moral code and a reputation for archery that's hard to overstate. He was the presumptive next leader of the order until his refusal to see the world in strictly black-and-white terms got him shunned. He joined the Apex Games partly to support himself through solo bounty work and partly because the public exposure gives him a shot at earning back his family's respect. According to his full lore entry on the Sparrow character wiki page), there's also an interesting detail suggesting the Serpent's Sting Heirloom may have originally been intended for him due to the Clessidra Rossa connection.

What are Sparrow's abilities?

Sparrow runs a kit built around information gathering, vertical mobility, and area denial. Each ability has a distinct role, and understanding how they interact is the fastest way to get value out of him.

Tracker Dart (Tactical)

Tracker Dart fires a small projectile from Sparrow's gauntlet that embeds itself in a surface or object. Any enemy who passes through its line of sight gets revealed. The cooldown sits at 33 seconds, which is on the longer side for a tactical, so placement matters more than spam.

The detail most players miss early on: Tracker Darts can activate Survey Beacons from a distance. That means you can ping the next ring location without physically walking up to the beacon, which is a significant safety advantage in late-game situations where beacons are exposed.

Double Jump (Passive)

Double Jump lets Sparrow jump a second time while airborne. That alone would be useful, but the real trick is the wall interaction: jumping while climbing a wall launches Sparrow upward, giving him vertical reach that goes well beyond what the double jump alone provides.

He also carries additional arrows and explosive arrows for the Bocek Bow as part of this passive, making him one of the better Bocek users in the roster if you want to commit to that weapon.

Stinger Bolt (Ultimate)

Stinger Bolt fires a large arrow that anchors into whatever surface it hits. After a charge-up period, it releases an electric pulse that damages and slows any enemy caught in its radius. The charge time isn't listed with a precise number in current sources, so treat the timing as something to feel out in the firing range before ranked play.

The key tactical use is area denial during third-party situations and zone pushes. Drop a Stinger Bolt at a doorway or the only cover path available and force enemies to either take the damage and slow or reroute entirely.

What are the best Legend Upgrades for Sparrow?

Legend Upgrades unlock as you level your Evo Armor during a match. Sparrow gets two upgrade slots, one at Level 2 and one at Level 3.

For most players learning Sparrow, Extra Traps at Level 2 pairs well with Life Siphon at Level 3. More Tracker Darts means more consistent information, and Life Siphon rewards you for using your ultimate aggressively rather than saving it. If you're running a faster, dive-oriented squad, swap Extra Traps for Hunt Target and lean into the speed boost after a dart tags someone.

Alternate Mode at Level 3 is worth experimenting with once you're comfortable with the base kit. Three charges with a tighter radius gives you more placement flexibility, but the reduced pulse count means it's less punishing per bolt. The single-charge version does more work in a single chokepoint.

How to unlock Sparrow and what cosmetics are available?

Sparrow has 40 total Legend skins: 5 Legendary, 5 Epic, 15 Rare, and 15 Common. The Legendary tier includes craftable options like Romeo, Malocchio, D'oro, and Aperitivo (each at 1,200 Crafting Metals), plus Honor and Victory at 1,800 Apex Coins or 2,400 Crafting Metals.

For full unlock requirements and cosmetic details, the Sparrow page on the Apex Legends Wiki keeps a current list of everything available.

A few things worth knowing about Sparrow

Beyond the kit, there are some personality details that make Sparrow more entertaining to play once you know them. He has a fear of clowns, a strong opinion against pineapple on pizza, and a crush on Loba. None of that affects his win rate, but it does explain some of his voice lines.

His class as a Recon Legend is the mechanical detail that actually matters for squad building. The Survey Beacon access puts him in the same category as Bloodhound and Vantage, giving your team ring information that other classes simply can't get. Pairing him with an aggressive skirmisher like Octane or Revenant lets you use the dart information to hunt marked targets while the skirmisher handles the dive.
