The Test Case quest is one of the new additions in Arc Raiders. Apollo sends you out to collect three specific ARC components: a Hornet Driver, a Fireball Burner, and a Firefly Burner. The quest looks simple on paper, but two of those targets can put you on the back foot fast if you go in unprepared. Here's everything you need to know to finish it cleanly.
What are the Test Case quest objectives?
The quest breaks down into four tasks. Three involve collecting parts, and one requires you to actively destroy a specific enemy type:
- Destroy a Firefly
- Deliver a Firefly Burner to Apollo
- Deliver a Hornet Driver to Apollo
- Deliver a Fireball Burner to Apollo
Every choice in a raid carries consequences, and that applies here too. If you die with quest items in your regular inventory, you lose them. Slot your collected parts into a safe pocket on your augment before heading to extract. That single habit is what separates a smooth quest run from a frustrating reset.

Hornets patrol near exfil zones
Before you drop: loadout and preparation
Gearing up correctly before you launch into a raid saves a lot of time. A few things to sort before you go:
- Bring medium or heavy ammo weapons. Precision rifles and shotguns like the Hullcracker work well against all three targets.
- Pack enough shields and meds to handle surprise encounters. Fireballs and Fireflies hit hard if you get caught without cover.
- Equip an augment with at least one safe pocket slot to protect collected components.
- Blue Gate is the recommended starting map. Clear skies make aerial targets like Hornets and Fireflies much easier to spot, and the Warehouse Complex and Village areas are consistent hotspots for all three enemy types.
How to get the Hornet Driver
Hornets are flying drone-type ARC that patrol in groups, often near Wasps, and attack with electrical shocks. They spawn on every map, so you will not have trouble finding one. Blue Gate tends to have higher concentrations near exfil points.
The fastest way to drop a Hornet:
- Aim at its rear thrusters if you have a clear angle. Hitting them destabilizes the drone and brings it down quickly.
- If the rear is not accessible, shoot the front thrusters until they are exposed, then follow up on the exposed section.
- Weapons that reward precision, like the Aphelion, make short work of the thruster weak points.
Once the Hornet hits the ground, loot it to collect the Hornet Driver.

Target rear thrusters first
How to get the Fireball Burner
Fireballs are ground-level ARC that roll around and blast you with fire at close range. They are most common inside buildings on any map, and Buried City is a reliable hunting ground if Blue Gate is not producing results.
Taking one down:
- Wait for the Fireball to open its core as it charges to attack. That is the moment to fire directly at the exposed center.
- A single well-placed heavy round from a Hullcracker or Ferro can destroy a Fireball even while its armor is closed, so you do not have to wait if you are carrying the right gun.
- Stay mobile. Fireballs are aggressive and will follow you into tight spaces.
Loot the destroyed Fireball to pick up the Fireball Burner.

Shoot the core when exposed
How to get the Firefly Burner
The Firefly is the trickiest part of this quest. It is an airborne ARC introduced post-launch, essentially a flying version of the Fireball, and it will shower you in fire if you give it space. You must destroy at least one Firefly even if you already have a Firefly Burner in your stash. The kill itself is a tracked objective.
Best spots to find Fireflies: Dam Battlegrounds and Blue Gate have the highest reported spawn rates. They fly at a moderate altitude, so they are easier to spot on maps with clear skies.
How to kill it:
- Target the rear thrusters, same approach as the Hornet. Destroying them prevents the Firefly from maneuvering and aiming at you.
- The Renegade is a solid choice here for precise shots on moving targets.
- If precision is not your strength, the Hullcracker with a few shots or well-placed explosives will destroy it outright.
- You can also shoot the exposed core while the Firefly is spraying fire, but only attempt this if you have solid cover nearby. Standing in the open during that window is risky.
After the Firefly goes down, loot the Firefly Burner from the wreckage.
How to turn in and what do you get?
Once all three components are in your safe pocket and the Firefly kill is registered, head to the nearest Speranza and deliver the items to Apollo to complete the quest.
Completing Test Case earns you three rewards:
- Firework Box Blueprint x1
- Seeker Grenade x3
- Blaze Grenade x3
The grenades are immediately useful for future raids, and the blueprint adds a crafting option worth keeping.
