ARC Raiders Guide: How to Get Firefly Burner

The Shrouded Sky update in Arc Raiders introduces new ARC threats tied directly to Project progression. One of the most important materials added in this update is the Firefly Burner, a required item for advancing the Weather Monitor System Project.

This guide explains how to get the Firefly Burner, where to find Fireflies, and the best way to take them down without wasting time or gear.

What Is the Firefly Burner Used For?

The Firefly Burner is a Project item needed to progress through the Weather Monitor System. Like other multi-stage Projects in Arc Raiders, this one requires specific ARC components collected during raids.

Without the Firefly Burner, progression will stall at later stages. That means farming Fireflies is not optional if players want to fully complete the system.

How To Get Firefly Burner in Arc Raiders

The only way to get a Firefly Burner is by defeating a Firefly ARC unit. It does not spawn as random loot and cannot be crafted. It is a direct drop from the enemy itself.

Fireflies are airborne ARC units introduced in the Shrouded Sky update. They resemble Hornets but are more aggressive and built for close-range pressure. Instead of using electrical attacks, they are equipped with a flamethrower, making them dangerous in tight spaces.

To bring one down efficiently, players should focus on stripping its armor first. Weapons with strong armor penetration work best. Once the plating breaks, targeting the thrusters is the fastest way to finish the fight. This causes the unit to lose stability and crash, making cleanup easier.

Heavy weapons are especially effective during this encounter. Coordinated squad fire also helps reduce the risk of getting overwhelmed by flames or additional ARC patrols.

After the Firefly is destroyed, loot its remains to obtain the Firefly Burner. Drop rates are consistent, but extraction is still required to secure the item.

Where To Find Fireflies

Fireflies can spawn on every map in Arc Raiders. They are not limited to a specific zone, which makes farming them more manageable compared to rarer ARC variants.

They typically patrol alongside:

  • Hornets

  • Wasps

Like other flying ARC units, Fireflies enter the map by crashing down from orbit before joining active patrol routes. Players will usually encounter them in open outdoor areas or near high-activity combat zones.

On maps like Stella Montis, Fireflies commonly appear in larger open sections such as loading areas and lobby spaces where Wasps and Hornets are already active. If players hear aerial deployment sounds or see multiple flying ARC converging, there is a strong chance a Firefly is part of the group.

Because they are integrated into standard patrol rotations, players running regular raids will naturally encounter them without needing a special event trigger.

Tips for Farming Firefly Burners

Farming Firefly Burners becomes more efficient with a few adjustments to loadout and approach.

Bring armor-piercing weapons to break plating quickly. Avoid fighting them in enclosed interiors where the flamethrower becomes harder to avoid. Engage from mid-range and keep vertical awareness since Fireflies hover and reposition frequently.

Squads can rotate aggro to minimize burn damage, while solo players should use cover and focus on disabling thrusters as soon as armor drops.

Extraction planning is also important. Securing the Firefly Burner means nothing if the raid fails before evac.
