Season 3 of Battlefield 6 is live, and the Blastpoint update (patch 1.3.2.0, console version 1.000.022) is one of the biggest content drops since launch. Cairo Bazaar is back, Obliteration mode has returned from Battlefield 4, a new SMG and Recon gadget have been added, and DICE has taken a sledgehammer to the Portable Mortar's survivability. There's also a free trial running until June 15, so now is the ideal time to get into the game.

Cairo Bazaar map layout
What's new in the Blastpoint update?
The headlining addition is Cairo Bazaar, a reimagining of Grand Bazaar from Battlefield 3. Senior Level Designer Patrick Murphy described the map as a tight, close-quarters space packed with alleyways and shops built for ambushes and intense gunfights. The TDM zone has been refined, and Domination has been added to the same combat area. Senior Game Designer Niklas Åstrand noted that the original layout is preserved in spirit, but the visual design has been fully overhauled.
Alongside Cairo Bazaar, Obliteration makes its return from Battlefield 4. This 32v32 mode puts a single neutral bomb on the map, and both teams fight to secure it, escort the carrier, and detonate enemy M-COMs. It rewards coordinated squad play over lone-wolf runs; the bomb carrier needs active protection or they won't last long.
The update also includes the Explosive Charge Event and a new Battle Pass Bonus Path that expands available rewards during the event window. Battle Royale Solos are also live as part of this update.
What are the new weapons and gadgets?
Two additions stand out for loadout planning:
- PP-19 SMG: Returns to the franchise with close-range effectiveness and support for a high-capacity magazine. It fits naturally into aggressive Support and Assault builds.
- Handheld Jammer: A new Recon gadget for electronic warfare. It jams enemy electronics within range and can be thrown, placed on surfaces, or used while moving, which gives Recon players a new disruptive option beyond traditional spotting tools.
If you want to build around these additions, the Battlefield 6 ultimate weapon guide covers class synergies and loadout strategies in detail.

What are the biggest balance changes?
Portable Mortar gets gutted
This is the change most players will feel immediately. The LWCMS Portable Mortar has been dramatically weakened to push players away from static deployment:
The Portable Mortar can also no longer be equipped or placed alongside the Missile Intercept System. DICE's stated intent is to make repositioning between volleys mandatory rather than optional. Sitting in one spot is now a fast way to lose your mortar.
Attack Helicopter gets Thermal Optics
The Radar System passive for the Attack Helicopter is now innate, equipped by default on all Attack Helicopters. To replace it in the passive slot, Thermal Optics have been added, giving the gunner seat a thermal camera that activates on zoom. This helps with target acquisition and gives pilots focused on their gunner a dedicated passive option.
The Mobile Anti-Air also gains two new secondary weapon options:
- High Velocity Rockets: Extremely limited guidance but fired rapidly at high velocity. Requires good aim but has higher potential damage output.
- Aim Guided Anti-Air Missiles: Smaller payload than other aim-guided weapons, but substantially improved velocity and maneuverability.
RPG-7V2 trajectory rework
After Season 2 reduced the RPG-7V2's velocity and acceleration to require more skill against aircraft, DICE acknowledged the trajectory felt unintuitive at closer ranges. The projectile trajectory has been reworked and the zeroing range reduced from 100m to 22m. Shots at close range should now behave more predictably.
Claymore changes
The M18A1 AP Mine trigger range and fragmentation damage range have been unified at approximately 3m. Claymore fragmentation no longer deals self-damage, which removes one of the more frustrating ways to kill yourself while defending a position.
Extended Barrel cost reduction
Extended Barrels across all weapons now cost 5 attachment points, down from 15. They no longer provide an ADS time benefit. The intent is to support broader attachment diversity, particularly on weapons with fewer barrel options. This is worth revisiting your current loadouts for, since the cost reduction opens up points for other attachments.

What changed for soldiers and visibility?
The soldier visibility system received a significant pass. Changes include reduced visual noise around enemy soldiers, better adaptation between dark interiors and bright outdoor areas, improved contrast and silhouette definition, more consistent visibility at close and long range, and fewer visual artefacts in fog. This is one of those changes that's hard to quantify in patch notes but noticeable within a few matches.
Hit effect prediction has also been improved to better align blood effects and impact feedback with confirmed hit results, especially under higher latency or packet loss conditions. Death animations have been updated to reduce popping, limit excessive movement, and produce more consistent reactions to explosive damage.
For players still getting to grips with movement and positioning, the Battlefield 6 beginner tips guide covers the core mechanics worth knowing before these visibility changes fully sink in.
What changed in maps and modes?
Several spawn point improvements have been made across Eastwood, Saints Quarter, Siege of Cairo, New Sobek City, and Hagental Base. Spawn protection on Operation Firestorm has been expanded to reduce enemy aircraft pressure near deployment areas.
On Railway to Golmud, explosive gas cylinders now behave correctly. The Railgun Battle Pickup near Objective D on Mirak Valley in Escalation has been replaced with a Minigun Battle Pickup. Out-of-bounds access using the Assault Ladder has been closed on Hagental Base.
For Gauntlet players, Heist Caches now spawn in their intended locations, Tank Containers close properly when a wrecked vehicle or player is nearby, and vehicle containers in Gauntlet: Rodeo now award 3 points when opened.

What UI and HUD changes should you know about?
The "New" Markers in the Play menu have been adjusted to reappear less frequently on tiles you've already viewed. DICE acknowledged this has been a persistent frustration and confirmed broader improvements are planned for future seasons, along with a quicker way to clear markers.
Other notable UI fixes:
- Damage numbers above 1000 now display the correct vehicle damage value instead of capping at 1000.
- Hit indicators for soldiers have been adjusted to sit further from the crosshair, remain visible on bright backgrounds, and use improved kill indicator animations.
- The minimap camera height for aircraft has been increased from 400m to 700m, expanding their view range.
- The "Devastating Impact" Field Upgrade description now correctly shows 25% instead of the previously listed 50%.
Portal updates
Portal gains Cairo Bazaar for Verified Portal Modes and Railway to Golmud assets in the SDK for Custom Experiences. The SDK Godot version has been updated from 4.4.1 to 4.6.1. A new mod.AutoBalanceTeams action has been added, allowing Team 1 and Team 2 to be balanced while maintaining squad composition.
Andy's Custom Conquest Template has been updated to version 10.0, adding Hagental Base, Conquest Assault toggle, Night Vision Goggles toggle, and Dirt Bikes on select maps.
