The Zobo Horde Invasion is one of the most demanding co-op events in Clash of Critters, dropping you and a partner into a 35-wave gauntlet against increasingly brutal Boss Zobos. Getting past the early waves is easy. Surviving the dual-boss checkpoints at waves 20, 25, 30, and 35 is a different problem entirely. This guide breaks down how the event works, which tataris to bring, and exactly what you'll face on every wave.
How does the Zobo Horde Invasion work?
The event runs on a strict timer. Every 3 hours, a 2-hour window opens where you can play up to 3 rounds. After those 2 hours, there's a 1-hour cooldown before the cycle repeats. You can participate multiple times per day across each active window, but placement rewards only pay out once per day. The exception: if you beat your previous placement in a later session, you collect the difference in rewards. You won't earn more than the first-place payout total in a single day regardless of how many sessions you play.
Your score is the highest single-round result you've posted, not a cumulative total. That means one great run counts more than three mediocre ones.
If your camp is under attack during the Horde Invasion, you won't be able to interact with it until the event ends. Plan your camp management around the event schedule.
Teaming up is straightforward. You can invite a specific friend or queue for a random partner who's also looking for a match. Co-ordinating tatari types with your partner before a run makes a significant difference at the higher waves.

Understanding tatari skills in Horde Invasion
Every tatari has a set of skills specific to this mode, separate from what they use in Battle or Boss Challenge. Each tatari can be upgraded 7 times, unlocking new skills at levels 3, 5, and 7. Every level-up also delivers a stat increase, so grinding upgrades isn't just about unlocking abilities.
Skills are consistent across an entire evolutionary line, with one exception: the base skill. That's the standard attack a tatari uses in other modes, and it carries over here. Evolved forms are stronger than their base versions, but they learn the same level-up skills. The practical takeaway is that evolving your tataris before upgrading them in this mode gives you better stats without changing the skillset you've planned around.
Only the base form of each evolutionary line is listed in the skill tables. Check the Critters page separately if you need base skill details for evolved forms.
What are the best tatari types to bring?
Type matchups are the backbone of this event. Boss Zobos each have a type weakness, and waves cycle through all five types (Water, Fire, Grass, Rock, Lightning) repeatedly. A team that covers at least three types reliably will handle most of the mid-game waves without swapping.
Here's a quick reference for type counters:
For support roles, Clucky (Grass) and Capywata (Water) are strong healing picks. Clucky's Chain Heal continuously heals weakened allies at level 5, while Capywata's Jumbo Orange at level 5 heals allies and grants both ATK Boost and DMG Boost simultaneously. Cheerling (Lightning) is arguably the best all-rounder support: its Bunny Dance base skill heals nearby allies and grants ATK and DEF Boost at the same time, and Just Dance at level 5 periodically grants invincibility to nearby allies.
For pure damage, Zapup (Lightning) scales well with Gigavolt at level 7, laying down wide-range DoT across the field. Pyropup (Fire) with Hellflame at level 7 continuously summons powerful flame pillars in the surrounding area. Frostnip (Water) brings Frost Path at level 7, dealing wide-range AoE with a chance to Freeze.

Full wave and boss breakdown: all 35 waves
The event was expanded from 30 waves to 35 after the February 11, 2026 update. Waves 20, 25, 30, and 35 each throw two bosses at you simultaneously. The earlier waves are single-boss and serve as a type-coverage check more than a real threat.
Waves 1-15
Waves 16-35
Waves 31, 33, and 34 currently have unknown bosses. Plan for flexibility rather than hard counters at those points.
Team composition tips for high waves
The dual-boss checkpoints are where most runs fall apart. Wave 30's combination of Rock and Lightning bosses requires Grass and Rock coverage simultaneously. Wave 35 pairs Rock and Grass, so you need Grass and Fire. Having one player specialize in Grass-type tataris covers both of those final checkpoints reasonably well.
For the support slot, Ashlarva (Fire) at level 7 grants Wing Embrace, boosting all stats for nearby allies. That's the kind of universal buff that keeps both players' tataris relevant regardless of what type the current boss is. Sparkeet (Lightning) at level 7 links with every ally to grant ATK Boost and DMG Reduction, which is especially valuable during the dual-boss waves where incoming damage spikes.
Pandaroo (Grass) is worth mentioning specifically for wave 35. Its level 7 skill Bambattle generates groves at all allies' locations, giving both damage bonuses and damage reduction at the same time. Against a Rock and Grass dual boss, having a Grass-type tatari that also buffs the whole team is efficient.

Is Zobo Horde Invasion worth playing every cycle?
The reward structure makes it worth attending every active window, but you don't need to play all 3 rounds if your first run already hits your target placement. Since you only earn the difference when improving your placement, a strong first run saves time. The daily cap at first-place payout means there's no benefit to grinding beyond that threshold.
For players who enjoy casual games with deeper co-op systems underneath, the Horde Invasion is exactly that: approachable on the surface, genuinely demanding once you're pushing into the 30s. The event's 3-hour cycle keeps it from feeling like an obligation while still rewarding players who show up consistently.
