How to get Bloodstone in Crimson Desert ...

Gear refinement in Crimson Desert hits a wall the moment iron and copper stop cutting it. Past level 4 on most weapons and armor, Bloodstone becomes the bottleneck, and Pearl Abyss doesn't exactly hold your hand in pointing you toward it. The red ore is scattered across Pywel's cliffs and ravines, but knowing exactly where to look saves a lot of aimless wandering.

What is Bloodstone used for in Crimson Desert?

Bloodstone is a gear refinement material in Crimson Desert, used at any blacksmith to push weapons, armor, and metal shields past their early upgrade thresholds. Early refinements run on iron and copper, both of which you'll stumble across constantly. Bloodstone kicks in at the higher levels, and you'll also need it for gear like the Sword of the Lord. Once you have enough, head to a blacksmith such as Turnali in Hernand to apply the upgrades.

For top-tier refinement you'll also need an Abyss Artifact alongside Bloodstone, so keep both on your radar as you progress.

How to mine Bloodstone in Crimson Desert

Bloodstone always spawns embedded in cliff walls and rocky ravines. It has a distinctive bright red color that stands out sharply against grey rock, making it easier to spot than iron or copper from a distance.

To mine it:

  1. Press F2 (keyboard) or the left D-pad (controller) to open the equipment wheel
  2. Select your pickaxe to equip it
  3. Hold CTRL (keyboard) or the left bumper (controller) to aim at a vein
  4. Left-click or press the right bumper to swing and break the ore

You can also break deposits using abilities like Force Palm, which is handy for veins positioned higher up a cliff face that are awkward to reach on foot. That said, a pickaxe is the more efficient tool, especially an upgraded one.

All Bloodstone locations in Crimson Desert

Deposits appear across several regions, with early-game spots concentrated around Hernand and Demeniss, and more abundant clusters opening up in Pailune and the Crimson Desert region later. Here's every confirmed location:

Early-game priority: Rocca's Hill ravine

The best spot to hit first is the ravine south of Rocca's Hill. There are five Bloodstone veins clustered along a vertical strip in the cliffside near the top of the eastern hills. A single run through this area yields around 10 pieces, which is enough to push through your first several upgrades. Garnet and Azurite also spawn further up the same ravine near the large bridge to the north, so you can grab multiple materials in one pass.

Ore respawn timers aren't fully confirmed yet, but testing suggests deposits take longer than 24 in-game hours to reset. Plan your farming runs accordingly.

Late-game farming: Crimson Desert region

Once you push into the Crimson Desert region proper, Bloodstone deposits appear in clusters rather than isolated veins. The area south of Tashkalp Town and along the road toward Trader's Expanse has some of the densest concentrations in the game. If you need to stock up quickly before a major upgrade push, this is where to go.

Can you buy Bloodstone instead of mining it?

Yes. Every city and major village in Crimson Desert has an Equipment Shop, marked on the map with a sword and shield icon. Bloodstone appears in their stock and restocks every 3 to 7 in-game days. With Equipment Shops spread across Hernand, Demeniss, Pailune, and beyond, you'll rarely be completely out of options if the mining deposits are depleted.

Buying is slower for bulk quantities but useful when you need just a few pieces to finish an upgrade without trekking across the map.
