Priscus the Ancient is one of Crimson Desert's optional bosses, tucked away in the Spire of Ringing Truth deep within the Pailune region. He hits hard, fires laser projectiles that can shred your health bar, and mixes in shadow and spear attacks that catch unprepared players off guard. The good news: once you understand the rhythm of this fight and have Nature's Snare unlocked, the whole encounter becomes a lot more manageable.
Where to find Priscus the Ancient
Priscus the Ancient is located inside the Spire of Ringing Truth, which sits in the Pailune region. This is an optional boss encounter, meaning the game won't push you here through the main story. You'll need to explore Pailune and navigate the Spire's interior to reach the fight. If you haven't cleared the Spire's puzzle yet, handle that first before heading into the boss room.
The Spire of Ringing Truth has its own puzzle sequence before you can access Priscus. Solve that first or you'll hit a dead end.
What are Priscus the Ancient's attacks?
Priscus uses three distinct attack categories, and knowing which ones Nature's Snare counters (and which ones it doesn't) is the difference between a clean kill and a frustrating wipe.
The laser projectiles are your window. When Priscus winds up a laser, that's your cue to activate Nature's Snare and absorb the hit. His shadow and spear attacks require you to read his animations and get out of the way the old-fashioned way.
How to beat Priscus the Ancient
Step 1: Unlock Nature's Snare before the fight
You cannot brute-force this boss without Nature's Snare unless you're significantly overleveled. The skill is the core tool for this encounter. Make sure it's unlocked and equipped before entering the Spire.
Step 2: Block lasers with Nature's Snare, then trigger Retribution
When Priscus fires a laser projectile, activate Nature's Snare to absorb it. This doesn't just negate the damage — it charges Nature's Snare Retribution, which is a follow-up ability that deals significant damage and is the fastest way to punish Priscus. The timing window is forgiving enough that most players will land it consistently after a couple of attempts.
Step 3: Spam attacks and prioritize Turning Slash
After landing Nature's Snare Retribution, Priscus enters a brief vulnerable state. This is when you unload. Turning Slash is your highest-damage option in this window, so spam it alongside your standard attack chain. Don't get greedy when the window closes — back off and wait for the next laser.
Nature's Snare does NOT block Priscus's shadow attacks or spear attacks. Trying to use it defensively against those moves will leave you wide open.

Step 4: Manage the shadow and spear attack phases
When Priscus switches to shadow or spear attacks, your job is purely defensive. Dodge away from his melee range, watch for the animation tells, and don't attempt to trade hits. Wait for him to return to laser patterns before setting up another Nature's Snare counter.
What does Priscus the Ancient drop?
Beating Priscus rewards you with a solid set of items, including one of the more useful accessories in the game:
- Delesyian Contribution EXP x100
- Blessing of the Immortal (quest reward)
- Ancient's Necklace
- Ancient Retribution
The Blessing of the Immortal is tied to a quest connected to the Spire of Ringing Truth, so defeating Priscus is required to complete that questline. The Ancient's Necklace and Ancient Retribution are both worthwhile pickups for builds that want to maximize damage output.
