Ultimate Horse Guide In Crimson Desert

The Priden is one of the more interesting horses in Crimson Desert, not because it's the fastest mount you can find, but because it does something no other standard horse does: it can jump twice. That makes it genuinely useful for traversal in ways that raw speed stats don't capture. Here's everything you need to know about getting one and what to expect from it.

How do you get a Priden in Crimson Desert?

There are three ways to add a Priden to your stable, and one of them is clearly better than the others for most players.

Tame one in the wild

This is the most straightforward method. Priden horses roam the open world, and because of their famously gentle temperament (the in-game knowledge entry describes them as horses that "do not run even when approached"), you can walk right up to one without spooking it. Once you're on its back, a minigame starts: you need to move in the opposite direction from where the horse is facing to bring it under control. It takes a few tries to get the timing right, but it's free and repeatable.

Buy from a stable

Stables occasionally stock Priden horses for silver. It's a valid option if you've exhausted nearby spawn areas or simply don't want to hunt one down, but paying silver for something you can tame for free is hard to justify unless you're in a hurry.

Steal one from an NPC

Priden horses appear on bandits and non-hostile NPCs throughout the world. Stealing is an option, but you'll need a mask equipped before attempting it, and every theft adds to your bounty. If your bounty is already high, this route will cause more problems than it solves.

Priden stats: what you're actually working with

The Priden sits in a middle tier when it comes to raw numbers. Here's the full breakdown:

The speed and acceleration ratings of 1 put the Priden behind the Brianto, which is faster overall. The Priden compensates with higher stamina than the Brianto and notably better handling and jump power, both rated at 2. For players who spend a lot of time navigating uneven terrain, cliffs, or elevated structures, those jump stats matter more than a speed advantage on flat ground.

What skills does the Priden learn?

This is where the Priden separates itself from the pack. Its skill list at max level includes two abilities no other standard horse has.

High Jump and Double Jump are the Priden's signature abilities, both unlocking at level 5. Together they give you a degree of vertical mobility that other horses simply can't replicate. After testing traversal across rocky regions and castle approaches, the Double Jump consistently opened shortcuts that would otherwise require dismounting and climbing on foot.

Swimming III is also worth noting. Most horses have basic water movement, but the Priden's tier-three swimming makes river crossings and coastal travel noticeably faster.

How to level up your Priden

The Priden's best skills, including Double Jump, are locked behind level 5. Leveling a horse in Crimson Desert requires regular use: riding it across the world, completing mounted travel, and engaging in activities that accumulate mount experience. There's no shortcut here. The more you ride it, the faster it levels. Prioritize using the Priden as your primary mount once you have one rather than swapping between horses, since experience doesn't transfer.
