DAVE THE DIVER just got a new DLC called In the Jungle, and the fishing roster has grown considerably. You're no longer hunting saltwater species in the Blue Hole instead, Utara Lake and the mysterious Lakebed Sea beneath it are packed with freshwater species, prehistoric creatures, and a few boss-tier threats that will genuinely test your combat instincts. Some of these fish tie directly into the main storyline, while others are purely optional catches that pad out your menu and your collection.
How are the fish zones organized in In the Jungle?
Unlike the Blue Hole's familiar depth tiers, the jungle DLC splits its aquatic areas into three distinct zones: the upper section of Utara Lake (0-35m), the lower section of Utara Lake (35-75m), and the Lakebed Sea, which you unlock later in the playthrough. Each zone has its own species roster, and the deeper you go, the stranger things get.

The upper layer of Utara Lake is where you'll spend most of your early hours in the DLC. Species here range from small, farmable fish useful for lower-value dishes to genuinely dangerous predators. The Black Caiman and Red-Bellied Piranha are the ones that'll catch you off guard if you're swimming carelessly.
The four Discus variants (Red, Brown, Green, Blue, and Heckel) are worth noting as a group — they're visually distinct and likely serve different recipe purposes at the restaurant. The Archerfish is also a fun find given its real-world reputation for spitting water at prey above the surface.

Drop below 35 meters and the fish get noticeably bigger and more aggressive. The Giant Freshwater Stingray, Electric Eel, and Piraiba Catfish are all large-bodied catches that require more preparation. The Asian Arowana and Platinum Alligator Gar stand out as the most visually striking species in this tier.
After testing catches across both depth tiers, the lower zone consistently yields larger fish with higher ingredient value. The Platinum Alligator Gar in particular looks like a premium dish ingredient given how rare it appears during dives.
What prehistoric creatures are in the Lakebed Sea?
The Lakebed Sea is where In the Jungle gets genuinely weird. Beneath Utara Lake sits what appears to be an ancient underwater environment filled with prehistoric species you won't find anywhere else in the game. Several of these creatures look more like fossils than fish.
The Ammonite and Orthoceras are real prehistoric cephalopods, which fits the DLC's apparent theme of an ancient ecosystem hidden beneath the jungle lake. The Stethacanthus is a prehistoric shark genus, so expect it to behave accordingly. The Red Sea Lily is technically a crinoid rather than a fish, but it appears in the same catch roster.
Which fish are tied to the main story?
Some of these species are required catches for story quests, while the majority are optional. The source material doesn't specify exactly which fish are mandatory at this stage, but based on how previous Dave the Diver DLCs have worked, expect at least a handful of the larger, rarer species to appear as objectives during key story beats. The Lakebed Sea creatures in particular seem likely to factor into the narrative given how the zone is gated.
