Demon Tides packs a surprisingly rich story into its 3D platformer format, and the three optional Ragnar Memories scattered across the game world are some of its most rewarding secrets. These hidden moments flesh out Ragnar, the game's antagonist and Beebz's father, giving real emotional weight to your adventure. Tracking them all down also nets you the coveted "Historian" achievement, making them well worth the detour.
What Are Ragnar Memories?
Before diving into locations, here's what you need to know about how these memories actually work. There are exactly three Ragnar Memories in the game, one tucked away in each of the three major hub areas. The islands that host these memories are intentionally sparse, containing no collectibles, treasure chests, or items tied to 100% completion. They exist purely for story purposes.
To trigger a memory, you need to locate a specific interactive object on each island and activate it. Each one plays a cutscene that reveals a piece of Ragnar's past.
These memory islands contain zero collectibles that count toward 100% completion, so you can visit them at any point without worrying about missing loot.

Where to Find All Three Ragnar Memories
Memory 1: Wrecked Fleet (Lokitana)
The first memory sits in Lokitana, the game's opening hub area. Head to an island called Wrecked Fleet, which is more of a shipwreck site than a proper island. It's a small location with nothing to collect, but the memory is absolutely there.
Once you arrive, climb to the top of the ship's mast. At the peak you'll find a swirling colored wind. Press your interact button (E on PC or the appropriate face button on your controller) and the first cutscene will trigger, giving you your first glimpse into Ragnar's history.
The Wrecked Fleet island is easy to miss on your first pass through Lokitana since it has no treasure indicators on the map. Keep an eye out for the distinctive mast sticking up from the water.
Memory 2: Abandoned Home (Shiverbeaks)
The second memory is found in Shiverbeaks, the game's second hub area. You're looking for a small island called the Abandoned Home, situated in the darker section of the sea near Dunklewald. The gloomy atmosphere of this area fits the tone of the memory perfectly.
Instead of climbing this time, head inside the house on the island. Interact with the crib you'll find there, and the second memory cutscene will begin. This one digs deeper into Ragnar's personal life and his relationship with Beebz.

Memory 3: Memory Cladh (Thuintir)
The final memory is in Thuintir, the game's third and last major hub. The island you want is fittingly named Memory Cladh. At the center of this island stands a large statue of Vindra, a figure representing the wind in the game's world.
Interact with the Vindra statue to watch the third and final cutscene. This one brings Ragnar's story to a close and, once it finishes, you'll receive the "Historian" trophy or achievement depending on your platform.

How to Unlock the Historian Achievement
The "Historian" achievement (called the "Historian" trophy on PlayStation) unlocks automatically after you view all three memories in sequence. You don't need to watch them in order, but the third memory in Thuintir is specifically flagged as the trigger point for the reward.
Since none of the memory islands contribute to standard 100% completion, they function as a completely separate optional layer of content. You can collect everything else in the game and still miss these entirely, so make sure to seek them out deliberately.
If you finish the game without visiting all three memory islands, you'll need to return in a post-game save or replay session to earn the Historian achievement. Don't leave them until the very end if you want a clean playthrough.

Why Are the Ragnar Memories Worth Finding?
Beyond the achievement, these three cutscenes genuinely add depth to Demon Tides' narrative. Ragnar is positioned as the antagonist throughout the game, but his memories reframe his motivations in ways that make the story considerably more interesting. For a 3D platformer, Demon Tides takes its storytelling seriously, and these optional scenes are a big part of why.
The memories also give context to Beebz's journey and the family dynamics driving the plot forward. If you care at all about the story, skipping these would mean missing some of the most meaningful moments the game has to offer.
