Pocahontas has another task lined up as she keeps pushing toward her Celestial Celebration, and this one takes you off the familiar paths of your valley entirely. The A Little Algae Problem quest sends you to Moontide Island to track down Glowing Algae, which sounds simple enough until you realize you're navigating unfamiliar terrain and juggling a materials list that sends you back to the mainland mid-quest.
How to start A Little Algae Problem in Disney Dreamlight Valley
The quest kicks off with Pocahontas asking you to recruit some help before heading out. She wants to return to Moontide Island, the same location where you first encountered her, to search for Glowing Algae. Your first job is to track down three specific villagers and get their answers on her behalf.
Who do you need to talk to first?
Seek out Jasmine, Cinderella, and Mother Gothel and speak to each of them. You don't need a specific outcome from these conversations, just get through all three. Once you've heard back from everyone, the next phase of the quest opens up.
How do you travel to Moontide Island?
With the villager check done, head to Pocahontas's Yehakin, which is wherever you placed it in your village layout. Step inside and look for the white sparkles on the ground near the wooden oars. Interact with them to use the boating gear and travel to Moontide Island. Once you land, speak with Pocahontas to get your next objective.
info
If you're having trouble spotting the white sparkles, they appear near the back of the Yehakin close to the oars on the floor. Look for the soft glow rather than a prompt.

How to clear the rocks on Moontide Island
A storm hit the island while you were away, and the camp can't be set up until the debris is cleared. Equip your Royal Pickaxe and break 6 rocks scattered around the beach area. The rocks aren't hidden, they're spread across the beachy section of the island so a quick sweep handles them all. Talk to Pocahontas once the last one is gone.
warning
Don't swap to another tool by mistake mid-clearing. The Royal Pickaxe is required for the rocks, and accidentally equipping the shovel wastes time.
How to gather Glowing Algae on Moontide Island
Now for the main event. Switch to your Royal Shovel and start hunting for sparkling dig spots across the island. You need to dig up exactly 5 pieces of Glowing Algae, and all five spots are located in the beachy section of Moontide Island.
The most efficient method is to walk the full outer edge of the island in a loop. Every dig spot falls within that path, so you won't miss any by sticking to the perimeter. Once all 5 pieces are in your inventory, hand them over to Pocahontas.
What materials do you need for the camp?
After delivering the Glowing Algae, Pocahontas sends you off to gather a list of materials for the camp on Moontide Island. Here's everything she asks for, along with where to find each item:
danger
The Special Resin requires you to leave Moontide Island temporarily. Head back to your valley, go into Pocahontas's Yehakin, and pick it up from the ground near the back right corner by the drum. It's easy to overlook since it sits on the floor rather than on a surface.
The wood and clay are the most time-consuming pieces since the quantities are high. Softwood and Hardwood both spawn on the ground near trees, so biomes like the Forest of Valor and Glade of Trust cover both in one trip. Glass needs to be crafted, so make sure you have enough Sand and Coal Ore stockpiled before you start the gathering run.
