What editions are available for Dragon Ball Sparking Zero?

The game launched across four editions, each stacking additional content on top of the base game. Here's exactly what each one includes:

The Standard Edition is exactly what it sounds like: the base game, nothing else. If you want to test the waters before committing to DLC, this is where you start.

The Deluxe Edition bundles the base game with the Season Pass, which covers DLC packs 1 through 3, plus a Season Pass bonus that lets you summon Shenron. For players who know they're going all-in, the Deluxe Edition is the most straightforward value pick.

The Ultimate Edition adds the Ultimate Upgrade Pack on top of everything in Deluxe. That pack includes a Goku (Super) Costume with Power Pole, an Emote Voice Set, two Player Card Backgrounds, one Customization Item, and an Ultimate Edition Bonus that unlocks Summon Super Shenron.

The Premium Edition is the physical collector's version. It includes a voucher code for the Ultimate Edition Upgrade Pack alongside physical items: a lenticular card, an exclusive diorama, exclusive cards, a Steelbook case, and a metallic bookmark.

What DLC packs have been released?

The Season Pass covers three DLC packs. The first, "Hero of Justice" Pack, was the initial DLC release and became available on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on February 20, 2026. Two additional packs follow under the Dragon Ball DAIMA banner.

Dragon Ball DAIMA: Character Pack 2 adds six new fighters to the roster. Early access for that pack opened on September 21, 2025. A combined Dragon Ball DAIMA Character Pack 1 & 2 release, alongside Shallot from Dragon Ball Legends, is scheduled for June 27, 2026.

The game also received a free update on May 26, 2026, timed to coincide with the upcoming DLC release window. Free updates have been a consistent part of the post-launch roadmap, with notable patch drops in December 2025, February 2026, April 2026, and May 2026.

What do the recent patches actually change?

Bandai Namco has kept the update cadence steady since launch. The April 21, 2026 patch required a brief maintenance window from 8:00 to 9:30 UTC on that date. The February 19, 2026 patch focused on adjustments to game modes and features. The December 15, 2025 patch dropped at 8:00 AM UTC and addressed the core gameplay experience.

The consistent advice across all patch notes is the same: apply the latest update before playing to avoid compatibility issues, especially in online modes.

How does the ranked match season work?

The current Ranked Match period concludes on June 30 at 8:00 UTC. At the end of the season, players receive titles based on their final rank as Season 0 rewards. These are cosmetic title rewards tied to where you finish, so your rank at the exact cutoff is what counts, not your peak rank during the season.

This is the first ranked season (Season 0), which suggests the developers are treating it as a calibration period before more structured competitive seasons follow.

Is Dragon Ball Sparking Zero worth buying?

With a roster that keeps expanding through the Season Pass and free updates, the game has clear long-term support behind it. The Deluxe Edition is the most practical entry point for anyone planning to stay with the game, since the Season Pass content is already mapped out across three DLC packs. The Ultimate Edition adds cosmetic and customization value on top of that, which matters more to some players than others.
