The Wandering Trader is one of Far Far West's most useful NPCs, and also one of the easiest to miss. She doesn't sit in a fixed camp or mark herself on the map. She just wanders, shotgun in hand, somewhere out in the desert, and it's on you to track her down. Get to her and she'll sell you a Joker that could flip the course of your run.
Where does the Wandering Trader spawn in Far Far West?
The first thing to know: she does not appear on Easy difficulty. According to both Dot Esports and Destructoid's coverage of the game, the Wandering Trader only shows up on Normal difficulty or higher. If you're grinding Easy missions hoping to stumble across her, you won't. Switch up the difficulty first.
Beyond that requirement, she has no fixed location. She can appear on any map, roaming freely through the area rather than standing at a predictable spot. The two most reliable ways to find her are:
- Mount up and sweep the map. Skip combat where you can and cover ground quickly on horseback. She moves around, so a fast pass across the whole area beats fighting your way through enemies slowly.
- Listen for gunshots. The Wandering Trader carries a shotgun and actively fights skeletons and marauders. If you hear shooting that isn't yours or your squad's, head toward it.

Wandering Trader roams freely
Spotting her visually is straightforward once you're close. She has a giant bag on her back, which makes her stand out from standard enemies. She's also unkillable, so don't worry about her dying before you reach her.
If you're in a co-op session, split up to cover more ground. One player on horseback sweeping north while another pushes south will cut your search time significantly.
What does the Wandering Trader sell?
The Wandering Trader sells one thing: Jokers. Each purchase costs 45 gold and gives you a random Joker for that run. These are temporary power-ups that only last the current session, so you're not building a permanent collection here.
One detail worth knowing from Dot Esports' reporting: buying a Joker from the Wandering Trader does not affect your teammates' gold balance. You're spending from your own pool only, so there's no reason to hold back if you have the gold and your squad doesn't need it.

Buy Jokers for 45 gold each
The Jokers themselves are random, so you won't always get something that fits your build perfectly. That said, any Joker is generally better than none mid-run, especially on Normal or higher where enemies hit harder.
The 45 gold cost adds up fast if you're trying to buy multiple Jokers in one run. Prioritize gold sources early so you have options when you find her.
How to earn gold for Joker purchases
Spending 45 gold per Joker means you need a consistent income during runs. The main sources, as documented by Dot Esports, are:
Secret missions can also pay out well. The medallion mission on the Canyon map reportedly grants around 300 gold on completion and also unlocks the Pick Pick Joker for your weapon, making it one of the more efficient uses of your time if you're farming gold anyway.
How do you unlock the Wandering Trader skin?
There's a challenge tied directly to the Wandering Trader: trade with her 30 times total across your runs and you unlock the Wandering Trader skin for your bounty hunter. This is a cumulative challenge, so the 30 trades don't need to happen in a single run.
The math is simple but not cheap. At 45 gold per trade, hitting 30 trades means spending at least 1,350 gold across your sessions, not counting any trades you might do beyond the minimum. Plan your gold farming accordingly.
Pairing the 30-trade challenge with the Canyon medallion mission is an efficient approach. The 300 gold payout from that mission covers roughly 6 trades per run, and you get the Pick Pick Joker as a bonus.
The skin is purely cosmetic, but it's a solid reward for players who want something to show for their gold investment. After testing multiple runs to track down the Trader across different maps, the Canyon route stands out as the most efficient path to both the gold and the trade count.
