- Pumpkin Chests (smashable pumpkins added for Fortnitemares) guarantee a Sprite drop, making them your fastest route
- Cheat Codes found on the island, with Legendary-tier Cheat Codes offering the best drop rate for Legendary Sprites
- Standard rare chests, particularly those found inside Vaults
- Trading with teammates who already carry a Deer Sprite, since Sprites can be summoned back after a trade
- Eliminating opponents who have a Deer Sprite equipped, which transfers it to you
For targeted farming, the Nightmare Neighborhood POI is the best starting point since it was added specifically for this Fortnitemares update and has dense Pumpkin Chest spawns. Golden Grove, Chopped Shop, and Sunkern Shores are also solid secondary locations. How do you level up the Deer Sprite?
For most variants, Sprite XP accumulates through general gameplay: opening containers, extracting duplicate or unwanted Sprites, and simply playing Battle Royale or Zero Build matches. There is one major exception.
The Bounty Hunter Deer Sprite only gains XP through eliminations, but the trade-off is that each kill awards 2.5x the normal Sprite XP. If you are comfortable hunting opponents, this variant levels faster than any other, but you cannot pad its progress through passive looting.
All Deer Sprite variants explained
Six variants exist in total as of update 42.30. Each one keeps the base melee damage bonus and adds a secondary effect on top:
- Deer Sprite: Melee attacks deal more damage, scaling with level
- Gold Deer Sprite: Base power plus 3x bonus XP from eliminations
- Cheat Master Deer Sprite: Base power plus all inputs are automatically correct when entering Cheat Codes

- Bounty Hunter Deer Sprite: Base power plus a chance to find Sprites after eliminating opponents; XP only earned through eliminations (at 2.5x rate)

Is the Deer Sprite worth using?
For melee-focused players, yes, without question. The damage scaling at Level 5 adds 30 flat damage to every melee hit, which is substantial in any close-range engagement.
