Childlike Dreams Cherished" Prune ...

Who is Prune and why does she matter in version 6.6?

Prune is a 4-star Anemo Catalyst character released in Genshin Impact version 6.6 "Moon of Seven" on May 20, 2026. She calls herself a "Witch Hunter" and traveled from Nordkale to Mondstadt chasing down the "Great Demon King" Alice, only to end up dragged into Klee's little adventure circle. The setup is pure comedy, but her combat role is anything but a joke. Prune fills a gap that Anemo four-stars have left open for a long time: a support who can deliver Swirl RES shred, a team-wide ATK-scaling damage buff, and off-field continuous Anemo damage all from a single character slot. She is the linchpin of the new Hexerei system and holds her own in general Swirl teams too.

Prune's skills explained: how does her kit actually work?

Everything about Prune's damage output and support value flows through one core loop: trigger a Swirl reaction with her Elemental Skill, convert her hammer attacks to the swirled element, then let her off-field bell do the rest.

Elemental Skill: Ring-Ring!

Witch Hunter Bell

This is the skill that makes Prune work. On use, she deals Anemo DMG to enemies. If that hit triggers a Swirl reaction, the skill upgrades to a second phase that converts her Banehunter Oathhammer attacks to the infused element. Hitting enemies in this converted state activates Resonance Echo, which increases all damage dealt by teammates (Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, Plunging Attacks, Elemental Skills, and Elemental Bursts) based on Prune's excess ATK value. The ATK threshold confirmed for the full buff effect is 4,000 ATK, which is achievable without five-star weapons if you build correctly.

Elemental Burst: The Bell Tolls!

The Hunt Is On!

Prune summons a Witchlure Bell that enters Hunter-Seeker mode. The bell follows the active character, deals AoE Anemo DMG continuously, and launches pursuit attacks whenever its hits trigger Swirl reactions. The whole thing runs off-field, so Prune can swap out immediately and let it work in the background. This fits the modern short-rotation meta perfectly.

Normal Attack

Her Normal Attacks are melee hammer strikes with the Catalyst. They contribute almost nothing in a support build. Keep them at level 1 to 4 and redirect those talent materials elsewhere.

What is the best talent priority for Prune?

The order is straightforward:

Elemental Burst (target level 9-10) > Elemental Skill (target level 8-9) > Normal Attack (keep at level 1-4)

The Burst gets priority because leveling it increases the Witchlure Bell's continuous damage and the potency of its pursuit attacks. The Skill comes second since higher levels improve Swirl damage and the effectiveness of the elemental conversion. Normal Attacks are a resource sink with no meaningful return for this role.

What are the best weapons for Prune?

Prune's weapon selection is almost entirely about stacking ATK and covering Energy Recharge. Her personal damage is secondary. The buff she provides scales directly with her ATK value, so every weapon choice should be evaluated through that lens.

Angelos' Heptades is technically the top option because of its 741 base ATK, and its passive provides a partial team DMG bonus even when Prune is off-field in Hexerei setups. Skyward Atlas is the more practical five-star pick since its 33.1% ATK sub-stat directly feeds her buff scaling. Oathsworn Eye is the four-star to grab if you want a smooth rotation without worrying about Energy Recharge in your artifact sub-stats.

What are the best artifacts for Prune?

Three sets cover the full range of situations Prune finds herself in.

Viridescent Venerer (4-piece) — default choice

The 2-piece gives 15% Anemo DMG Bonus. The 4-piece increases Swirl DMG by 60% and reduces the enemy's Elemental RES to the swirled element by 40% for 10 seconds. Every time Prune swirls Pyro, Cryo, Electro, or Hydro, she shreds the relevant resistance for the entire team. This is her best-in-slot in the vast majority of teams and the set to farm first.

Celestial Gift / Gift of Grace (4-piece) — Hexerei-only upgrade

The 2-piece provides Energy Recharge +20%. The 4-piece grants all nearby party members a 20% Elemental DMG Bonus after Prune uses her Elemental Skill (as long as she has completed Witch's Homework). In a full Hexerei team with the Secret Rite effect active, this upgrades to Mortal Hymn: all party members gain a 40% Elemental DMG Bonus corresponding to both the wearer's and the active character's element. Different elements stack, so the potential buff is enormous. This set beats Viridescent Venerer in pure Hexerei lineups, but only if another character isn't already wearing it.

Noblesse Oblige (4-piece) — non-Hexerei fallback

The 2-piece boosts Elemental Burst DMG by 20%. The 4-piece increases all party members' ATK by 20% for 12 seconds after Prune uses her Burst. Solid in teams built around characters like Arlecchino or Keqing who don't benefit from Hexerei bonuses.

The Sands slot is the one decision point. Run ER% there if you are using Skyward Atlas, Memory of Dust, or Angelos' Heptades (none of which provide ER). Switch to ATK% once sub-stats get you to 150% ER or higher. CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG are wasted stats on Prune.

Energy Recharge targets vary by weapon: Oathsworn Eye users can function at 130-140% ER. Players using the high-ATK five-star catalysts should target 150-165% ER through artifacts. Thrilling Tales builds need 160-170% ER since the Sands is locked to ATK%.

How should you play Prune in a rotation?

Prune is a quick-swap support. Her rotation is short by design.

  • Apply an element to enemies with a sub-DPS or support first
  • Use Prune's Elemental Skill to trigger Swirl and activate Resonance Echo
  • Cast her Elemental Burst to deploy the Witchlure Bell
  • Swap immediately to your main DPS

The Witchlure Bell continues dealing Anemo damage and triggering Swirl reactions off-field. Prune does not need extended field time. The entire on-field window is roughly 3-5 seconds per rotation.

After testing this rotation across multiple team setups, the key failure point is almost always energy. If the Burst isn't ready on time, the buff timing breaks and the team loses a full cycle of Resonance Echo. Prioritizing ER in your build or weapon choice prevents this.

What are the best teams for Prune?

Hexerei core is Prune's best home

Hexerei core is Prune's best home

Hexerei Swirl team (strongest)

Varka + Durin + Nicole + Prune

All four characters benefit from Hexerei Mystery bonuses (triggered automatically with two or more Hexerei members). Prune swirls Pyro to shred Pyro RES by 40%, Varka and Prune form Double Anemo Resonance reducing skill cooldowns by 15%, and Nicole's shields and ATK buffs land on all Witch members. Rotation: Nicole Skill (Shield + ATK Buff) → Durin Skill/Burst (Pyro application) → Prune Burst/Skill (Bell + Swirl) → Varka on-field.

Lohen Cryo-Pyro Melt team

Lohen + Nicole + Durin + Prune

Lohen as a Cryo Polearm main DPS performs Melt reactions on-field while Durin applies Pyro from off-field. Prune swirls both elements, shredding Pyro and Cryo RES simultaneously. Three Hexerei members (Lohen, Nicole, Durin) plus Prune's system creates very high synergy.

Pyro main DPS Swirl team

Mavuika or Arlecchino + Nicole + Prune + Fischl or Raiden Shogun

For players without Varka or Durin. Prune swirls Pyro and reduces Pyro RES by 40%. Double Pyro Resonance adds 25% ATK. Fischl or Raiden provides off-field Electro to keep Swirl reactions consistent.

F2P team

Razor + Fischl + Prune + Chevreuse

A fully accessible lineup. Razor handles Physical/Electro DPS, Prune's Swirl RES shred boosts his output, and Chevreuse covers shields and additional support buffs.

Are Prune's constellations worth chasing?

Prune functions well at C0. The constellations improve her quality of life and buff ceiling, but none of them are mandatory.

Loading table...

C1 helps with energy cycling and is a natural first pickup. C2 makes hitting the 4,000 ATK threshold much easier since it generates up to 40% extra ATK during the Burst window. C6 is the big one: the extended bell duration and the flat 350 ATK bonus on reaction triggers turn Prune into a noticeably stronger universal buffer. If you are investing long-term in the Hexerei system, C6 is the end goal.

What ascension materials does Prune need?

Preparing materials before the banner opens saves a lot of time. Here is the full list:

Character Ascension:

  • Vayuda Turquoise: Sliver x1, Fragment x9, Chunk x9, Gemstone x6
  • Radiant Horn x94 (dropped by the weekly Boss "Heretic Master" added in 6.6)
  • Winterfrost Grass x388 (collected in the Mondstadt region)
  • Treasure Hoarder Insignia / Silver Raven Insignia / Golden Raven Insignia: approximately 93 / 102 / 48 pieces

Talent Level-Up:

  • Resistance series books: Teachings x27, Guide x125, Philosophies x74 (Forsaken Rift domain on Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday)
  • Sage's Mask x13 (dropped by the Heretic Master weekly Boss)
  • Crown of Insight x1 (from Battle Pass or events)

Winterfrost Grass and Treasure Hoarder Insignia can be farmed before version 6.6 launches. Radiant Horns and Sage's Masks require the new Heretic Master Boss, so those have to wait until the update goes live.

Is Prune worth pulling in version 6.6?

For players pulling on either the Nicole Reyne or Lohen banners in 6.6, picking up multiple copies of Prune is almost automatic since she appears as a featured four-star across both phases (May 20 to June 9, then June 9 to June 30). Even C0 is a genuine contributor in Hexerei and general Swirl teams. C2 makes the ATK threshold more comfortable to hit, and C6 is a meaningful power spike for committed Hexerei players.

Outside of Hexerei, the 4-piece Viridescent Venerer set keeps her relevant in any team that can trigger Swirl. Anemo four-star supports with this level of team-wide utility have historically stayed useful through multiple versions, so the investment holds up.
