Marvel Rivals Blood Hunt throws you into a vampire-overrun city with just 6 heroes to choose from, and picking the right one makes all the difference. Some characters dominate from the first run while others need heavy investment before they feel competitive, especially once the difficulty spikes and vampire hordes stop being manageable.
All Blood Hunt characters ranked
Here's the full breakdown of how the 6 available heroes compare. Every character can technically clear the mode with the right setup and team support, but some reach that point far faster and more consistently.
Who is the best character in Blood Hunt?
Squirrel Girl is the strongest hero in Blood Hunt. Her mobility lets her reposition constantly, her ranged damage output handles both dense swarms and tough bosses, and she doesn't need specific teammates to function. She's effective from your very first run and scales hard as you unlock better upgrades. If you're picking one character to master and stick with, this is it.
Moon Knight is a close second and could swap places depending on how you play. He has multiple viable early builds, but for endgame success you want the ranged Phases of the Moon Ankh-focused build. Once you stack Ankh upgrades, you can attach them to bosses and melt through their health bars. The Ankhs also clear crowds effectively, so Moon Knight stays useful in every situation. His mobility (jump and fly) also lets you escape bad positioning quickly.
Jeff the Land Shark completes the top three. He needs more time to reach full power than the other two, but the payoff is worth it. The build you want is Overflowing Waters, which amps up his spit attacks to hit hard across large groups or focus down single targets. His unlockable Forked Stream ability splits the stream into three, massively increasing his area coverage. A fully built Jeff can delete a boss in seconds, though reaching that point demands more investment than Squirrel Girl or Moon Knight.

Mid-tier picks: Thor and Blade
Thor
Thor lands comfortably in the middle of the pack. He's not flashy, but he's the most reliable anchor on any team. He deals respectable damage, absorbs hits well, and consistently outlasts teammates when runs go sideways, buying time for the rest of the squad to respawn. You generally only want one Thor per team, but having one is genuinely helpful at every stage of the mode.
Blade
Blade was a standout in Marvel Zombies mode but has fallen off significantly here. The main issue is that Blood Hunt, especially the Dracula boss fight, rewards safe ranged damage output. Blade can get there with a gun-focused build, but it takes far more time and investment to reach the same level other characters hit naturally from the start. He's not unplayable, but there are better options unless you specifically enjoy his kit.
The weakest pick: The Punisher
The Punisher is the only hero in Blood Hunt who genuinely can't run solo effectively. He's excellent at shredding single targets, making him a solid teammate when your group is stuck on a boss. Against the large vampire swarms that dominate most rounds, though, he falls apart. If your team already has strong all-rounders, one Punisher can contribute, but he should never be your first pick.

Jeff's Overflowing Waters build
What build should you run on each character?
Here's a quick breakdown of the recommended builds for each hero:
- Squirrel Girl: Her default kit is strong enough that her well-rounded skillset carries naturally. Focus on upgrades that boost her ranged damage and mobility.
- Moon Knight: Run the Phases of the Moon Ankh build for endgame content. The melee kick build is fun early but drops off at higher difficulties. Switch back to it only once you have top-tier gear.
- Jeff the Land Shark: Go Overflowing Waters to maximize spit damage. Prioritize unlocking Forked Stream as early as possible for full area coverage.
- Thor: Build into his survivability and damage. His value comes from staying alive longer than anyone else, so lean into that.
- Blade: If you run him, commit to a gun-focused build. His melee-centric approach doesn't work at higher difficulties.
- The Punisher: Single-target damage upgrades only. Accept that you need teammates to handle crowds.
Team composition tips
Blood Hunt rewards balanced teams more than stacking the same hero. A few things to keep in mind:
- Running two of the same character is rarely optimal. Thor and The Punisher especially benefit from being the only one of their type on the team.
- A Squirrel Girl or Moon Knight paired with Jeff the Land Shark covers both sustained crowd control and burst boss damage, which is the most efficient combination at higher difficulties.
- If a teammate is struggling with the Dracula boss fight specifically, a Punisher alongside stronger all-rounders can speed up that encounter considerably.
