MLB The Show 26 – Expert Tips and ...

The World Baseball Classic Is Back in Diamond Dynasty

The World Baseball Classic Program is one of the most exciting limited-time events in MLB The Show 26, and this year it arrives bigger than ever. Instead of the single-track grind from the 2023 version, San Diego Studio has split the entire program into four distinct pools, each mirroring a real tournament bracket from the actual 2026 WBC (held March 5–17, 2026). Each pool is capped at 100 points and delivers its own unique player cards and pack rewards. Whether you want to target one specific pool or push through all four, there is serious value waiting at every milestone.

How Does the WBC Program Work in MLB The Show 26?

The WBC Program lives inside Diamond Dynasty's Mini Seasons mode. According to the official PlayStation Blog, San Diego Studio integrated the WBC directly into this mode so you can replace one of the licensed federations with your own Diamond Dynasty squad and play through the full tournament bracket. You can also customize your Mini Seasons experience by choosing between 7 or 28-game seasons and 3 or 9-inning games, giving you real flexibility in how much time you invest per session.

Each of the four pools (A, B, C, and D) shares a common set of base missions, but each pool also features its own exclusive Player Missions and PXP Missions tied to WBC-branded cards. Here is what every pool has in common:

  • Complete 10 Moments (3 points each)
  • Complete the WBC Showdown (10 points)
  • Complete Series Missions using WBC Series cards (3 points each)

Series Mission objectives are consistent across all pools:

  • Pitch 30 Innings
  • Record 60 Strikeouts
  • Record 50 Hits
  • Record 30 Extra-Base Hits
  • Hit 20 Home Runs

For the full breakdown of WBC missions and reward pools, this detailed overview from IGGM covers every point threshold and card unlock across all four programs.

What Are the Rewards in Each Pool?

Every pool follows the same structural reward logic: player cards arrive at the 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100-point milestones, with MLB The Show 26 Packs and XP bonuses scattered throughout. The headline reward in every pool is the 89 OVR card at 100 points. Here is a snapshot of the top-tier rewards per pool:

Note that Operation Sports confirmed Munetaka Murakami at 90 OVR, Hyun-Min Ahn at 89 OVR, Travis Bazzana at 88 OVR, and Jac Caglianone at 87 OVR as part of the first wave of revealed WBC cards. Jarren Duran also received a 87 OVR WBC card in that initial reveal. These ratings reflect the cards at the time of launch and may shift with future updates from San Diego Studio.

Every pool also awards two MLB The Show 26 Packs at both the 85-point and 95-point marks, meaning you can collect up to four additional packs per pool just by pushing past the 80-point threshold.

Pool A Highlights

Pool A features Cuba, Panama, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Colombia national team representation. The progression runs from 80 OVR Johan Camargo at 10 points up to 89 OVR Nolan Arenado at the 100-point cap. Mid-range standouts include 87 OVR James Paxton (80 points) and 88 OVR Alexei Ramirez (90 points). The stadium reward at 5 points is the iconic Estadio Hiram Bithorn, which the PlayStation Blog specifically highlighted as one of the four WBC tournament ballparks available in-game.

Pool B Highlights

Pool B covers Brazil, Mexico, Italy, Great Britain, and the USA. The anchor reward is 89 OVR Bryce Harper, making this arguably the most sought-after pool for players building a competitive Diamond Dynasty squad. Other notable pickups include 88 OVR Randy Arozarena (90 points) and 87 OVR Jac Caglianone (80 points), who was part of the first confirmed WBC card reveal shared through the official World Baseball Classic social media accounts.

Pool C Highlights

Pool C represents Czechia, Australia, Chinese Taipei, Korea, and Japan. The Tokyo Dome stadium unlocks at just 5 points, giving you immediate access to one of the most visually striking venues in the game. Top cards here include 88 OVR Travis Bazzana (90 points), 87 OVR An-Ko Lin (80 points), and 86 OVR Masataka Yoshida (70 points). The 100-point reward is 89 OVR Hyun-Min Ahn, who was confirmed at 89 OVR in the first official WBC card reveal.

Pool D Highlights

Pool D covers Nicaragua, Netherlands, Israel, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic. The progression features 85 OVR Juan Soto (60 points) as a standout mid-tier reward, with 88 OVR Jackson Chourio at 90 points and 89 OVR Didi Gregorius closing out the pool at 100 points. 87 OVR Mark Vientos at 80 points is another strong pickup for players building a power-hitting lineup.

What Are the New Parallel Mods and How Do They Affect WBC Cards?

One of the biggest Diamond Dynasty changes in MLB The Show 26 is the overhaul of the Parallel XP system. Previously, every Parallel level added a flat +1 to all attributes. Now, each Parallel level unlocks a Parallel Mod, letting you direct rating boosts to specific attributes rather than spreading them evenly. This means you can double down on a player's best skills or shore up a weakness depending on your lineup needs.

Additionally, San Diego Studio confirmed that hitters now earn Parallel XP at the same rate as pitchers, which was a long-standing imbalance in previous entries. For WBC Program players, this is particularly useful since your Player Missions require using specific WBC cards in games, and those same games are simultaneously building PXP toward Parallel upgrades.

How to Maximize Your Points Efficiently

With four pools each capped at 100 points and a mix of repeatable and one-time missions, planning your approach matters. Here is a practical priority order:

  1. Complete the WBC Showdown first in each pool you enter (10 points in a single session).
  2. Knock out all 10 Moments per pool (30 points total at 3 points each).
  3. Run Series Missions using your WBC cards across Mini Seasons games.
  4. Target Player Missions in order from lowest OVR requirement to highest, since earlier cards are easier to activate.
  5. Repeat PXP Missions (4 points each, repeatable) to fill remaining gaps toward key milestones.

According to the PlayStation Blog, all WBC content will be released in phases throughout the MLB The Show 26 season, so pools that feel incomplete now will receive additional content drops. You are not locked out if you start late.

Which Pool Should You Start With?

If you are working with limited time, Pool B offers the strongest single headline reward in 89 OVR Bryce Harper, and Pool D's 85 OVR Juan Soto at just 60 points makes it excellent for players who want high-quality cards without grinding to 100. Pool C is the best choice for players who want stadium rewards fast, since the Tokyo Dome unlocks at 5 points and Japan-affiliated cards like Masataka Yoshida bring strong international flavor to any roster.

For players with time to grind multiple pools, starting with Pool A and Pool C gives you the most diverse national team representation and the two most iconic WBC venues (Hiram Bithorn and Tokyo Dome) right away.

The Bigger Picture: WBC Content Throughout the Season

The WBC Program is just one piece of a much larger Diamond Dynasty content calendar. San Diego Studio confirmed that the Final's MVP card will be added to the Collection once the real-world tournament concludes, giving players an additional chase reward tied directly to actual tournament results. The official launch blog also confirmed 130+ player cards tied to WBC content, spread across all four Pool Programs and the 20 national teams participating in the tournament.
