Apple has cut the price on the 2025 MacBook Air (M4, 2025), making the higher-spec model more accessible. The 24GB RAM and 512GB SSD configuration is now $1,299 on Amazon, down from the standard $1,599. This pricing applies to the Midnight finish, and availability appears limited. If you've been waiting for a portable machine that can handle gaming alongside creative work, this is a rare window.
The MacBook Air hasn't traditionally been a gaming machine, but the M4 chip shifts that perception. With 24GB of RAM backing it up, the laptop handles macOS-compatible games, emulators, and cross-platform titles without the stuttering you'd see on older models. Running Discord, streaming apps, and a game at the same time no longer means choosing which one gets to run smoothly.

Gaming and creative performance on M4
The M4 chip delivers noticeable gains for both gaming and content creation. While this isn't a dedicated gaming rig, strategy games, indie titles, and anything optimized for Apple Silicon run better than they did on M1 or M2 hardware. The extra RAM means you can stream gameplay, record footage, or keep a dozen browser tabs open without frame drops or lag spikes.
Apple's AI features are baked into macOS now, and while they don't directly boost frame rates, they're useful for content creators. Text rewriting, summarization, and image generation tools help with guides, overlays, and social posts. All of it runs locally, so your data stays on your machine.
Display and audio quality
The MacBook Air comes with a 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display that supports 1 billion colors. Textures in games look sharper, and visual details in RPGs or strategy titles come through clearly. Video playback is smooth, and the color accuracy is useful for design work. The 12MP Center Stage camera, three mics, and six speakers handle streaming and team chat without needing external gear. Spatial Audio adds some depth to in-game sound, though it won't replace a proper gaming headset.
Ports and external display support
Apple equipped the MacBook Air with Thunderbolt 4 ports, MagSafe charging, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and a headphone jack. It supports two external displays, which is useful if you stream or want a second screen for maps, inventory, or chat. Battery life is rated at up to 18 hours, though gaming will drain it faster. Still, you can get through several hours of play without hunting for an outlet.
Pricing and availability
At $1,299, the 24GB RAM model is significantly cheaper than its usual price. This is one of the lowest prices we've seen in months. For gamers and creators who need a portable machine that balances macOS gaming with productivity work, this configuration offers strong value. Lower-spec models are also discounted, but the 24GB version is the one to get if you want headroom for multitasking and future software updates.
