The Flashpoint update dropped a new Arc machine into Arc Raiders that players are now spending serious time hunting: the Vaporizer. Kill one, loot it, and you walk away with a Vaporizer Regulator. The catch? You need 19 of them to complete the High-Gain Antenna project, and Vaporizers are not easy kills.
A new machine that changes how raids play out
Before Flashpoint, the aerial threat players mostly worried about was the Rocketeer. Vaporizers look similar from a distance, which has already caught more than a few raiders off guard. Up close, the difference becomes obvious fast: these machines carry a laser beam that sets both players and the surrounding area on fire, turning a routine engagement into a resource drain.
Vaporizers spawn commonly during the Close Scrutiny map condition, the same event that activates Assessors across the map. Breach an Assessor and you can expect Vaporizers to show up in numbers. Solo players heading into a Close Scrutiny run without preparation are going to have a rough time.
What the fight actually looks like
Vaporizers have three clear weak points: the rotors around the rim and the core on the underside. Targeting the rotors slows the machine down and reduces its mobility, making the rest of the fight more manageable. The core is the primary damage target.
The laser has a brief charge-up before it fires, which gives you a window to move. There's also a more targeted multi-player laser that tracks several raiders at once. Cover is your best tool here. Buildings let you break line of sight, peek out to deal damage, and duck back before the beam connects.
For weapons, high-end options are the way to go. The Hullcracker, Aphelion, Dolabra, and Wolfpacks all have the damage output needed to cut through a Vaporizer's health pool without burning through your entire loadout. Bring strong healing consumables too. Fire damage stacks up quickly, and running dry on heals mid-fight is how solo attempts fall apart.
The 19-regulator grind and why it matters
The High-Gain Antenna project requiring 19 Vaporizer Regulators is a significant ask. Each one requires killing a Vaporizer, and each Vaporizer fight is a genuine combat encounter with fire damage, a shielding phase, and enough health to make cheap gear feel like a liability.
Here's the thing: the drop isn't guaranteed to be multiple per kill either, which means players grinding the High-Gain Antenna are looking at a lot of Close Scrutiny sessions. Teaming up with other players in the same match spreads out the fire damage and the pressure, and makes the fights move faster. Spreading out during the fight matters too since clustered players all catch the same laser blasts and burn through supplies twice as fast.
The key here is treating each Vaporizer run as a proper raid objective rather than a side encounter. Load in with the right gear, target the rotors first, use cover aggressively, and hold fire during the shield phase.
