Battlefield: Redsec Now Live

Battlefield: Redsec officially launches today, marking a major step for the franchise as it enters the free-to-play space. Developed by Battlefield Studios, Redsec introduces a fresh take on the large-scale multiplayer experience, blending traditional franchise mechanics with the structure of a modern Battle Royale.

A New Battlefield Experience

Redsec opens with the Battle Royale Initiation mode, designed to give new players a place to learn the fundamentals before jumping into standard matches. The Initiation version of Fort Lyndon features a smaller map and a player cap of 48, including bots, offering a lower-pressure environment to practice movement, looting, and combat strategies.

Players enter matches in duos, dropping onto the battlefield by parachute and choosing when to deploy. Team coordination plays a crucial role, with one squad member acting as the leader during the jump sequence. Once on the ground, players begin searching for weapons, armor, and other essentials to survive the match.

Classes and Loadouts

Before every match, players select one of four distinct classes that shape their role in combat. The Assault class focuses on aggressive frontline fighting, the Engineer manages vehicles and heavy equipment, the Support class keeps allies resupplied and protected, while Recon specializes in long-range targeting and intelligence gathering. Each class provides a specific set of tools that can influence how a squad approaches different encounters.

Players also choose a sidearm, which serves as a backup weapon in tight situations. The focus on teamwork and tactical versatility remains at the core of the experience, with each class contributing to a squad’s overall effectiveness.

Survival and Progression

Fort Lyndon’s map features multiple crate types and points of interest where players can gather gear. Common and rare crates hold standard weapons and equipment, while class-specific chests offer items tailored to player roles. Additional resources can be found in vehicles and locked vaults scattered across the environment.

Alongside combat, players can accept Contracts, optional objectives that grant valuable rewards upon completion. Managing these side missions while avoiding the encroaching chemical ring - known as the Circle of Death - adds an extra layer of strategy. Staying inside the safe zone is essential, as crossing into the circle quickly results in elimination.

A notable addition is the Second Chance mechanic, allowing players an early-match redeployment if eliminated. If unused, it converts into bonus experience points that contribute to ranking and unlocks. Respawn Points located across the map also enable teams to bring back fallen allies, reinforcing the importance of squad cohesion. The match concludes when one team remains, earning the title of the last surviving squad.

Gauntlet Brings Competitive Squad Challenges

For players looking for a more structured multiplayer experience, Redsec introduces Gauntlet, a round-based elimination mode. Eight squads of four compete in a rotating series of operations, each featuring specific objectives and point-based scoring systems. Teams that fail to meet performance requirements are eliminated, while consistent success across four rounds results in victory.

Each operation begins with a briefing that explains how to earn points and what objectives matter most. Battlefield Studios emphasizes the importance of communication and coordination, encouraging players to use in-game ping systems or chat tools to plan and execute their strategies.

Community Creations Expand the Experience

Redsec also incorporates Portal Community Creations, a space for players to build and share custom gameplay experiences. This feature continues the tradition introduced in Battlefield Portal, allowing creators to develop new modes and missions using Redsec’s tools. The inclusion of community-driven content ensures that gameplay continues to evolve beyond launch, offering players new challenges and creative twists on core mechanics.

A Step Forward for Battlefield

With Redsec, Battlefield Studios expands its multiplayer offerings beyond traditional paid releases. The free-to-play model opens the series to a wider audience while maintaining the tactical depth that defines Battlefield’s identity. Whether in Battle Royale Initiation, the competitive structure of Gauntlet, or the player-built experiences in Portal, Redsec delivers multiple ways to engage with the franchise’s large-scale combat.

Players can now drop into Fort Lyndon and experience the next phase of Battlefield’s evolution.
