Capcom confirmed on March 26 that it will patch Street Fighter 6 to revise text passages in Alex's newly added DLC story mode, after players on social media noticed the New York brawler's storyline involved marrying and impregnating his second cousin and step-sister, Patricia, a woman he had known since she was a baby.
Yes, that is what actually shipped in a major fighting game in 2026.
What Capcom actually said
Street Fighter 6 director Takayuki Nakayama posted a statement to social media addressing the situation directly. "We apologize for any confusion that recent topics regarding Alex's story may have caused," Nakayama wrote. "While we have not changed the characters' backstories, after internal review by the development team, we plan to revise certain text passages that may have been misleading in the near future."
Capcom also published a supplementary episode on Buckler's Boot Camp titled A Toast Between Fathers, written by the Street Fighter scenario team as a follow-up to Alex and Patricia's wedding. The episode establishes that while the two are still step-siblings, they were not close growing up and only became close later in life.
Here's the thing: that still means Alex marrying his step-sister is confirmed canon. The cousin angle also remains unaddressed, with fans speculating the patch might clean that up too, though Capcom has not confirmed it.

The supplementary Buckler's Boot Camp episode is live now, but the actual text revision patch has no confirmed release date yet.How the community reacted
The response was not subtle. On X, user Del posted a side-by-side of Alex holding Patricia as a baby alongside the wedding image, writing: "There's no confusion LMAO. You made Alex's sibling-like relationship with his second cousin go from him holding her as a baby to marrying, and getting her pregnant. The emotion you're seeing from Street Fighter fans is not CONFUSION, it's something else - I promise."
Another user, Shuckle, created custom art reacting to the storyline and put the core frustration plainly: "We do not want Alex and Patricia to be in a romantic relationship, that is the entire problem. Alex can marry anyone else, it's fine, but having his step-sister as his wife is the problem. How was this missed in the writing process? Did nobody speak up about it?"
That last question is the one that stings. This is not a subtle easter egg buried in optional lore. It is the main story content for a paid DLC character, and it shipped this way.
A first in the series, and possibly in gaming
Street Fighter has a long history of retconning character lore. Akuma's accomplishments, for example, have been quietly revised multiple times since Street Fighter 2. But a patch specifically to walk back an incest storyline is new territory, both for the franchise and arguably for the medium.
The Street Fighter 6 official news page has not yet listed a specific patch date for the text revisions. What most players miss in situations like this is that the "confusion" framing in Capcom's statement does a lot of heavy lifting. Fans are not confused about what the text says. They read it. That is the problem. Make sure to check out more:
