Best Gaming Deals: FF7 Remake Intergrade & Super Mario Galaxy

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is down to $29.99 on Nintendo Switch 2 at Walmart this weekend, a 25% cut from its $39.88 list price. That is the best reason to pay attention to this weekend's gaming deals roundup.

Why this FF7 deal has good timing

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is the definitive version of Square Enix's 2020 remake, packing in the full PS5-enhanced experience plus the Episode INTERmission DLC starring Yuffie Kisaragi. For anyone who missed it on PlayStation, the Switch 2 version is a genuinely solid entry point. Here's the thing: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second chapter in the trilogy, is scheduled to launch on Switch 2 in early June. Getting through Intergrade before then is not just recommended, it's practically required for the story to land properly.

At $29.99, this is the lowest price the Switch 2 version has seen since launch.

The rest of this weekend's notable discounts

Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 together for $54.99 at Woot is the other headline deal. The double pack normally runs $69.99, so that's a 21% saving on two of Nintendo's most beloved platformers. Both games received a free update adding 4K support on Switch 2, which makes revisiting them feel less like nostalgia and more like a proper remaster.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 drops to $44.99 at Woot, down 25% from $59.99. The game's resolution was a known weak point on the original Switch hardware, but the Handheld Mode Boost feature on Switch 2 has addressed that. If you bounced off it years ago for visual reasons, this is a different experience now.

Splatoon 3 is down to $39.88 at Walmart, a 34% cut from $59.99. That is the steepest percentage discount in this batch. Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed on PS5 hits $23 at Amazon, down from $39.99, which is 42% off for a remake that launched less than a year ago.

On the non-gaming side, the LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 set (1050 pieces, Darth Malak and R2-D2 minifigures included) is $79.99 at Amazon, saving $20 off the usual $99.99. The Dan Da Dan Season 2 Blu-ray Collector's Edition is available for pre-order at $58.48 through Crunchyroll, releasing July 14.

Where the FF7 series goes from here

The broader context here matters for Square Enix fans. Intergrade arriving on Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S earlier this year marked the first time the remake series expanded beyond PlayStation and PC. With Rebirth following in June, the full trilogy is on track to reach Nintendo and Xbox players within a relatively tight window. For anyone building out their Switch 2 library now, Intergrade at $29.99 is a reasonable starting point before that second chapter arrives.
