Digital assets from FIFA Rivals are now available on the Mythical Market, days before the game's global release on Thursday, June 12. The early listing has caught attention in the web3 gaming space, especially since the game itself isn't live yet for most players.
FIFA Rivals NFTs appear on Mythical Market
FIFA and Mythical Games revealed FIFA Rivals during our GAM3 Awards 2024. The mobile game is being developed by Bacon Games, a Colombia-based studio with nearly 40 developers. Bacon Games was founded by Jairo Nieto and Alejandro González, who previously launched Brainz, the studio behind World War Doh. Jam City acquired Brainz in 2018.

Why are these NFTs available early?
The reason for the pre-launch availability of FIFA Rivals NFTs hasn't been officially explained. These assets may have been generated by players who accessed the game during its soft launch period. Alternatively, Mythical Games may have released a small batch of items to test marketplace functionality. Whatever the reason, users can now browse and buy a limited selection of NFTs before the game goes live.
Low supply, inflated prices
The Mythical Market currently lists fewer than 200 NFTs. Available items include footballs, team kits, victory animations, and a handful of player cards. Some player NFTs feature recognizable names like England's Aaron Ramsdale and Kobbie Mainoo, plus Portugal's Joao Felix. With so few items available and no way to actually use them in-game yet, current prices are probably higher than they'll be post-launch. Once the game is live and players start creating and trading NFTs through gameplay and in-app purchases, supply will increase and prices will likely adjust.

How the items actually work
The listed NFTs have different functions. Kits appear to be cosmetic only, letting you customize your team's appearance without changing how the game plays. Footballs, on the other hand, provide in-game advantages. Each football has an aura stat. The game picks the home team based on which player owns the football with the highest aura. If you win a match using a specific ball, you get a bonus. These items are consumable. Each football has a limited number of uses before its bonus effects run out.
What happens at launch
FIFA Rivals releases globally in less than a week. The early NFT listings give a glimpse of the game's digital economy, but the market will change dramatically once more players get access. More item creation through gameplay and purchases will diversify the marketplace and shift asset values. The Mythical Market is live now if you want to browse what's available, but expect the landscape to look very different once the game launches and the player base expands.
