WAGMI Games, in a decisive move to strengthen their development team, has announced several key appointments from within the gaming industry. The company has been on a quest to find top talent whose skills align with the world of web3.
One of the significant hires is Esteban Gil, a former senior project manager at EA and Respawn Entertainment. In his new position at WAGMI, Gil will be responsible for overseeing the development of business strategy, concentrating on consumer-oriented products. Expressing enthusiasm about his new role, Gil stated his belief in the potential of web3 and NFT technology to revolutionize the gaming industry. He sees this as an opportunity to deliver more engaging and immersive gaming experiences globally.
Additionally, Brent Pease, a former EA director of operations and founder of Industrial Toys, has been appointed to the dual role of COO and general manager at WAGMI. Pease will focus on operations and implementing growth strategies. Honored to be part of the team, Pease voiced his excitement for the vision of WAGMI and the opportunity to create thrilling games.
WAGMI's first project, WAGMI Defense, is a fast-paced tower defense mobile app featuring a three-minute game loop. All playable game assets are owned by the player, with marketplaces like GamestopNFT facilitating in-game asset trading.
The company aims to expand the adoption of web3 in the gaming community, targeting the 97% of gamers who currently do not engage with web3. WAGMI believes that by reducing entry barriers, such as crypto wallet requirements, it can create engaging web3 games ready for the mass market.
WAGMI CEO Ian Bentley expressed pride in having talent like Brent and Esteban join the team, seeing their appointment as a testament to the company's vision and a unique opportunity to evolve the gaming space. These strategic hires mark an exciting chapter in WAGMI's journey to leverage cutting-edge technology and drive innovation in web3 entertainment.
