A new season of Fortnite means a fresh cast of characters spread across the island, and Chapter 7 Season 2 has arrived with 14 NPCs ready to trade, fight, or simply exist near a point of interest.
The NPC roster is one of those seasonal fixtures that quietly shapes how matches play out. Knowing where these characters sit before you drop can mean the difference between grabbing a hired gun early or spending half a match wandering in the wrong direction.

14 Characters, Spread Across a Busy Map
As of the season launch on March 19, there are exactly 14 NPCs active across the Chapter 7 Season 2 map. That number is expected to shift as the season progresses, with Epic Games likely adding, moving, or removing characters at various points. It has been the standard approach for several seasons now.
What makes this roster interesting is how unevenly distributed the characters are. Three NPCs sit at New Sanctuary alone: The Foundation, Rival Hope, and The Order. Over at Squibbly Shores, there are four characters clustered together: Squibbly and three variants of Chef Squibbly (Manager, Critic, and Fishmonger). Fishstick is nearby at Humble Hills, hanging around the Sticks Landmark restaurant just south of Squibbly Shores.
The rest of the cast is more spread out. Dasha is at Tiptop Terrace, close to the island's edge slightly west of the main area. Vengeance Jones holds down Sandy Strip. Trog is tucked inside a cave beneath a rock arch at Frigid Fortress. Wonkee wanders the front courtyard of Wonkeeland. The Visitor occupies Dark Dominion, and Elite Jules can be found inside a movie set building near the west end of Painted Palms.
What Services Are Actually on Offer
Not every NPC comes with a service attached. Several characters this season are listed without confirmed offerings, at least at launch. For those that do provide something, Gold Bars remain the currency of choice.
The available services from standard NPCs include a free Gold bonus tied to match performance, plus three paid options each priced at 500 Gold Bars: spawning a Rift, restocking Ammo, and purchasing Health and Shields. It is worth noting that NPC services can rotate between matches, so the same character may not always have the same thing available.
The three Chef Squibbly variants at Squibbly Shores each offer a Pro Fishing Rod for 250 Gold Bars, making that cluster of characters one of the more consistently useful stops early in a match.

NPC services are not fixed and can vary from match to match. Knowing multiple NPC locations gives you backup options when a specific service is unavailable.

The Specialist Hire System
Four NPCs this season can be hired as Specialists, meaning they follow you for the rest of the match and provide ongoing support based on their class.
Specialists can provide real value in the mid-game, handling ammunition resupply or keeping your health topped off. The trade-off is visibility. They are not exactly subtle, and bringing one into a tense late-game scenario can give away positioning to nearby opponents.
info
Hiring a Scout Specialist like Squibbly early in the match can help with map awareness, but consider dismissing them before the final circles to avoid drawing attention.
XP Bonuses and Why Tracking Them Down Is Worth It
Beyond the services themselves, there is a straightforward incentive to track down every NPC at least once. Each first-time interaction grants a small XP bonus, which adds up quickly when you are working through early Battle Pass tiers. With 14 characters spread across the map, hitting them all over a few sessions provides a decent early boost to progression.
The clustered locations at New Sanctuary and Squibbly Shores make efficient NPC runs possible. Landing at one of those spots gives access to multiple characters in a single drop, letting players stack XP pickups and grab a service or two before moving on.
Epic Games is expected to continue adjusting the NPC roster as Chapter 7 Season 2 develops, so the current list is very much a starting point. For the latest updates on characters, weapons, and everything else happening in the season, keep an eye on the latest Fortnite news and guides.
