Fortnite OG Season 8 went live on April 1, and Epic Games wants you to know this is absolutely not an April Fools' joke. Pirates have taken over the throwback Chapter 1 island, the Avengers: Endgame limited-time mode is back for the first time in seven years, and a new OG pass brings remix versions of three fan-favorite Chapter 1 skins.
What the pirate invasion actually changes on the island
The OG island has been redecorated in a big way. Lazy Lagoon is now a full pirate hangout, Sunny Steps brings Aztec temple vibes to the northeast, and a new Volcano adds a smoky, fiery landmark to the mix. The map is also littered with pirate cannons, which serve a dual purpose: launch yourself across the island for fast repositioning, or load up cannonballs to demolish enemy builds and the players inside them.
The loot pool changes are relatively modest at launch. The Flint-Knock pistol makes its debut, a weapon that has earned a deeply divided reputation over the years. Its effective range is roughly six inches, and firing it sends you flying backward, which is either hilarious or infuriating depending on your perspective. The other new item is the Treasure Map, a pickup that marks a buried chest on your mini-map when collected.
The Endgame LTM is back, and here's how it works
The Avengers: Endgame mode goes live on April 3 and splits players into two teams of 16. One side plays as the Avengers, the other as Thanos' Chitauri army. The Chitauri's goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones scattered across the island, with each stone powering up whichever player is currently controlling Thanos. The Avengers have to prevent that from happening.
Respawns work differently for each side. The Chitauri share a pool of 150 total respawns across the team, while the Avengers respawn freely until the Chitauri collect every stone. It plays like a themed take on the old Team Rumble format, which Epic retired from the main game a while back. For players who missed the original 2019 crossover, this is the first chance to experience it in seven years.

The new OG pass and the skins inside it
The Season 8 OG pass costs 1,000 V-Bucks or comes included with a Fortnite Crew subscription. Buying in immediately unlocks Synthesis, a remix of the lizard ninja skin Hybrid from the original Season 8 battle pass. The pass also includes remixed versions of Blackheart, the cursed pirate skin, and Luxe, the more grounded human design from the same era.
Here's the thing: if the previous OG passes are anything to go by, each skin should come with two main styles plus a full set of matching cosmetics. Whether Synthesis gets Hybrid's iconic lizard transformation style is unconfirmed, but the original Hybrid was built around that progression, so it would be a strange omission.
For long-time players, these three skins represent some of the most requested cosmetics from Chapter 1. The original Season 8 battle pass was one of the most beloved in the game's history, and getting remix versions of its marquee skins is exactly the kind of nostalgia play that makes Fortnite OG worth revisiting. You can check the Epic Games newsroom for the full official breakdown of what's included in the pass.
Ballers arriving mid-season and the Endgame mode starting two days after launch means the season has a staggered content rollout built in. For more on what's dropping across all of Fortnite right now, browse the latest gaming news and guides to stay current. Make sure to check out more:
