CyberConnect2 has quietly built a reputation for cult classics that never quite got the attention they deserved. The studio behind the hack series, Asura's Wrath, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle is now bringing one of its more recent titles to a much wider audience. Fuga: Melodies of Steel is officially heading to iOS and Android, with a summer release window confirmed.
A wartime JRPG that's darker than it looks
At first glance, Fuga: Melodies of Steel reads like a standard turn-based JRPG. Anthropomorphic animal children, painterly art direction, a classic combat format. But the story underneath is considerably heavier than the character designs suggest.
The game is set in the peaceful nation of Gasco, home to two species: the caninu (dog-like) and felineko (cat-like) peoples. When the militaristic Berman Empire invades with unclear but clearly sinister intentions, a group of child refugees becomes the last line of resistance. Their weapon of choice is a massive ancient tank called the Taranis, which they use to push back against the occupation and uncover exactly why the Berman Empire came knocking.
The wartime allegory is not exactly subtle. Think Valkyria Chronicles with a younger cast and a much heavier emotional weight. The series has earned a loyal following precisely because it commits to that tonal contrast between its cute aesthetic and genuinely grim subject matter.

The mobile release will include all three optional costume packs at no additional cost, which is a meaningful addition given these were paid extras on other platforms.
What CyberConnect2 bringing this to mobile actually means
CyberConnect2 has not historically been a mobile-first studio. Their catalogue has lived on consoles and PC, with mobile ports being a relatively recent development. Fuga: Melodies of Steel originally launched on PC and consoles back in 2021, followed by a sequel in 2023. Getting the first entry onto iOS and Android opens the story up to an audience that largely missed it the first time around.
The key here is that this is not a watered-down adaptation. The announcement points to a full port of the original game, complete with bonus content bundled in. For players who prefer gaming on the go, that is a legitimate reason to pay attention.
Summer release, all content included
The mobile version of Fuga: Melodies of Steel is targeting a summer 2026 release on both iOS and Android. All three costume packs will be included as part of the base release, meaning players get the full content package without additional purchases.
For a game built around emotional storytelling and strategic tank combat, the mobile format could actually suit it well. Turn-based systems translate cleanly to touchscreens, and the episodic, chapter-by-chapter structure of the game fits naturally into shorter play sessions.
