Giant, an AI-powered storytelling platform designed for kids, just closed an $8 million funding round. The money will go toward expanding the platform's interactive story features, where kids don't just watch or listen — they jump in, make choices, and steer the plot. Characters remember what kids say and do, adapting over time to create a personalized experience that shifts with each user.
Matrix, Decasonic, and Griffin Gaming Partners led the round, with Perceptive Ventures, Flex Capital, Arbitrum Gaming Ventures, Unpopular Ventures, and LightShed Ventures chipping in. Giant plans to use the capital to scale up and build out more creative tools for its young audience.

Usage numbers and what kids are doing
Giant went live in May 2025. Since then, kids have racked up more than 13 million minutes talking to characters on the platform. They've also generated over 200,000 custom episodes. The app runs on iOS and Android, so it's easy to access on most mobile devices.
The platform breaks down into three modes. Create lets kids build their own episodes and worlds from scratch. Watch drops them into personalized shows where they appear as characters. Talk gives them live, back-and-forth conversations with AI-driven characters who respond in real time. The whole setup pushes kids to drive the story instead of sitting back and absorbing content someone else made.
What the CEO says
Giant CEO and co-founder John Kobs framed the platform as a counter to passive screen time. "The internet is optimized for attention, while kids need imagination," he said. "Storytelling shapes who kids become. We turn kids from consumers into creators, building what we want our own kids to grow up with."
The company won the Interactive Media category at Lightspeed's Game Changers competition. Its work sits alongside other AI-driven projects like Google's Project Genie, which also explores how AI can handle worldbuilding and interactive narrative.
