Rockstar has been hiding weapons in plain sight across every Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer and screenshot drop, and the community has been cataloguing them obsessively. The current count sits at 19 confirmed firearms across both trailers and the 63-screenshot release, and that number is almost certainly a fraction of what the final game will pack.
Here's the thing: what makes this weapons list interesting isn't just the guns themselves. It's what they signal about how Rockstar is approaching GTA 6's arsenal compared to GTA 5. Most weapons in GTA 5 were named after their class, think "pistol", "heavy pistol", "carbine rifle". Generic and functional. GTA 6 appears to be moving toward named, branded firearms with manufacturer identities baked in, which suggests a more detailed customization system is coming.
Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI are now open, you can pre-order here.
The pistols making up the sidearm lineup
Four confirmed handguns have shown up so far, and they cover a solid range of archetypes. Jason's go-to is the Girardi ES9, modelled on the Beretta 92FS, spotted multiple times across trailers. Lucia carries the Klose K17, clearly based on the Glock 17, and both pistols get custom paint jobs in the Ultimate Edition.
The Nipper .38 is the compact option. It appears on the official cover art held by Lucia, which tells you it's probably a common early-game pickup rather than a powerhouse. Then there's the Capo pistol, which looks like a Colt M1911 and has appeared in both characters' hands across different scenes.
Revolvers get their own category here. The Morgan revolver is based on a Smith & Wesson 629 and comes in two personalized versions for Jason and Lucia in the Ultimate Edition. The serial numbers engraved on each are references to the release dates of GTA Vice City and Vice City Stories, which is exactly the kind of detail Rockstar loves hiding in plain sight. The Mustang .357, modelled on the Colt Python, rounds out the revolver options.
Long guns, carbines, and the Duke Arms connection
The most interesting discovery in the rifle category is the Duke carbine, an M4-inspired assault rifle bearing the Duke Arms Company insignia. If you've spent time with Red Dead Redemption, that manufacturer name will ring a bell. Duke Arms apparently survived the end of the Wild West and set up shop in GTA's criminal underworld, which is a neat bit of cross-series worldbuilding from Rockstar.
A Duke sniper rifle also appears, sharing the same manufacturer branding and several base components with the carbine. It's possible these are modular variants of the same platform rather than entirely separate weapons.
Beyond Duke's lineup, screenshots of hunters in the wild have confirmed a Remington 700-inspired bolt-action rifle and an M1A-inspired semi-automatic, suggesting the game's rural areas come with their own distinct weapon culture. The poacher aesthetic is strong.
SMGs, shotguns, and the Ammu-Nation rack
Two SMGs have been confirmed in action. An MP5-inspired submachine gun shows up during the bank robbery sequence in Trailer 2, with Jason's version sporting a red dot sight that's likely an in-game attachment option. A MAC-10-inspired SMG also appears with a retro blue paint job tied to the Vintage Vice City pre-order pack.
The shotgun category is filling out too. A double-barreled shotgun turns up in the hands of a hunter squaring off against an alligator. What most players miss in that screenshot is the full-length barrel, which raises the question of whether a sawed-off variant will be available.
The real treasure trove for weapon spotters is the brief clip of Phil's Ammu-Nation in Trailer 2. The shop's back wall is loaded with gear: AK-47-inspired assault rifles in multiple configurations, Uzi-inspired SMGs alongside what could be an MP7 or TEC-9, and several Remington 870 and Benelli M4-inspired shotguns. The variety on that rack alone hints at a deep customization system where attachments and configurations change the visual identity of each base weapon.
Heavy weapons rounding out the confirmed list
An M249-inspired LMG shows up in the Ammu-Nation clip, with a large box magazine that should keep the chaos going longer than most players will need. The grenade launcher also returns, looking visually similar to its GTA 5 counterpart. Lucia puts it to work blowing up police vehicles in one of Trailer 2's standout moments.
The key here is that 19 weapons across two trailers and a screenshot drop is a significant reveal for a game that hasn't shown a single second of actual gameplay footage yet. The full arsenal at launch will almost certainly run into the dozens, with weapon customization looking more granular than anything in GTA 5.
With pre-orders now open, you'll want to check the GTA 6 editions guide to see which version includes the personalized Morgan revolvers and custom pistol paint jobs, since those Ultimate Edition weapons are the only confirmed exclusive items tied to the arsenal so far. For everything else building toward launch, the GTA 6 guide collection has the latest on what Rockstar has confirmed.
