Hello Kitty and Friends Come to Monopoly Go

Scopely has confirmed a limited-time Sanrio collaboration for its mobile game, Monopoly Go. The event will run from March 10th through March 29th and is available on both iOS and Android. This marks the first time Hello Kitty and Friends characters, including Cinnamoroll, My Melody, Keroppi, Pompompurin, Pochacco, and Kuromi, are featured in the game. The crossover introduces new mini-games, collectibles, and cosmetic items with themed visuals.

Redesigned Mini-Games Offer Themed Challenges

Several of Monopoly Go’s popular mini-games have been updated with Sanrio-themed elements. In Partners, players can collaborate to build attractions inspired by Hello Kitty and Friends. Treasures offers new digging environments filled with themed collectibles, while Racers features character-inspired vehicles navigating colorful tracks. Deluxe Drop also receives visual updates and themed challenges, integrating the Sanrio aesthetic across multiple gameplay modes.

Collectibles, Stickers, and Customization Options

The event includes a nine-piece Hello Kitty and Friends sticker set, along with themed shields, dice, and emojis. Players can also use the new Style Token feature to customize in-game tokens with accessories inspired by the Sanrio universe. These additions aim to provide both visual variety and interactive rewards for players throughout the limited-time event.

Developer Insights on the Collaboration

Victor Diaz-Roig, Scopely’s president of games, said the collaboration was designed to reflect the charm and positivity of Hello Kitty and Friends. He highlighted the care taken in updating mini-games and visual elements to ensure the experience aligned with both the Monopoly Go universe and Sanrio’s recognizable style.

Context Within Monopoly Go Seasons

The Sanrio collaboration begins during Pets Season, a recent theme in Monopoly Go that introduces pet-based tokens and challenges. This timing allows players to engage with two concurrent themed events, combining pets and Hello Kitty characters in a broader seasonal experience.
