Skybound Games has added Allen the Alien to Invincible VS, the studio's upcoming 3v3 tag fighter based on the Invincible franchise. The one-eyed intergalactic warrior joins a roster pulled from both the comics and animated series. The reveal comes alongside confirmation that the open beta goes live April 9 on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Quarter Up, Skybound's in-house studio, is handling development.
Allen's fighting style and moveset
Allen was bred in a Unopan facility specifically to fight Viltrumites. That backstory translates into his playstyle: he's built around mobility, grappling, and raw power. The game classifies him as a Striker, meaning he thrives on mix-ups and baiting opponents into bad positions. His combos hit hard if you can land them, but he takes some practice to use effectively. Allen's personality carries over too. He cracks jokes mid-fight, which fits his role as one of the lighter characters in a series that can get pretty brutal.
Ten characters confirmed for open beta
The April 9 beta includes ten fighters. Mark Grayson (Invincible), Atom Eve, Rex Splode, Omni-Man, Bulletproof, Thula, Battle Beast, Robot, Monster Girl, and Allen round out the initial lineup. You can download the beta directly from the Xbox Store. It's a chance to test team compositions and figure out how the tag mechanics work before the full launch. Each character plays differently enough that finding the right three-fighter squad will take some experimentation.
Game modes and combat mechanics
Invincible VS splits its content between single-player and multiplayer. The story mode features original writing from someone who worked on the animated series. Arcade and training modes let you grind out combos and test setups. Online play supports both casual and ranked matches. Teams of three can chain attacks together for extended combos, and the tag system lets you swap fighters mid-combo to keep pressure going. The combat leans into the series' over-the-top violence while keeping the mechanics tight enough for competitive play. Timing your blocks and counters matters as much as landing big hits.
Quarter Up's first project
This is Quarter Up's debut title. The studio was formed by Skybound and staffed with developers who previously worked on Killer Instinct, so they know how to build a competitive fighter. Robert Kirkman has said Allen connects the game to the broader Invincible universe. He's powerful enough to hang with the heavy hitters but keeps things from getting too serious with his sense of humor.
Launch date and pre-order editions
Invincible VS releases April 30, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud. It's an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so buying it once gets you access across platforms. Two editions are available for pre-order. The standard version comes with the base game and a Zero-Suit Mark skin. The Deluxe Edition adds a Year 1 Character Pass and profile cosmetics. You can pre-order through the official Invincible VS website or the Microsoft Store.
