The LEGO Group has added a new entry to its LEGO® Super Mario™ line with the LEGO® Mario Kart™ - Luigi & Mach 8 set. Drawing directly from the iconic Mario Kart™ video games, the set gives fans the chance to build and display Luigi behind the wheel of the Mach 8, the first large-scale LEGO version of the kart. The set is designed to appeal to both collectors and gamers who enjoy recreating their favorite race moments in real life.
Building the Mach 8 and Luigi Figure
Targeted at builders aged 18 and up, the set includes 2,234 pieces. The Luigi figure is fully posable, with movable arms, hands, and head, allowing players to position him behind the steering wheel for display or recreation of in-game racing stances. The Mach 8 kart can be placed on a stand at dynamic angles, mimicking the sense of speed and drift found in the video games. The kart is also functional off the stand: rolling it forward moves the wheels, turning the steering adjusts the front wheels, and rotating the rear wheels spins the flame exhaust, adding an interactive layer reminiscent of Mario Kart’s playful mechanics.
Gamers Can Recreate Head-to-Head Races
This set is designed to complement the earlier LEGO® Mario Kart™ – Mario & Standard Kart, sold separately. Together, the two sets allow fans to recreate head-to-head races between Mario and Luigi, making it possible to display iconic matchups from the games or set up tabletop “races” in the real world. The build offers both a display piece for collectors and a hands-on interactive experience that resonates with fans of the franchise.
Pre-Order and Availability
The LEGO Mario Kart™ - Luigi & Mach 8 set is available for pre-order starting March 10, 2026. It will officially launch on April 1, 2026, through LEGO.com and LEGO Stores, giving gamers the opportunity to secure one of the first large-scale LEGO Mario Kart sets.
