Mario Tennis Fever – Nintendo Switch 2 ...

February 2026 was a packed month for gaming, and when the dust settled, one Switch 2 exclusive came out swinging harder than anyone expected.

Mario Tennis Fever topped the "Top Best-Selling Platinum Games" on Nintendo platforms in the US for February 2026, according to data shared by Circana analyst Mat Piscatella. Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined landed in second place, with Pokémon Legends: Z-A rounding out the top three.

A Switch 2 Exclusive Takes the Crown

Here's the thing: Mario Tennis Fever pulling the number one spot on Nintendo's February charts is a meaningful signal for the Switch 2's library momentum. The game launched as a platform exclusive, and its chart performance shows Nintendo's sports titles still carry serious weight with players.

It's worth noting that Nintendo's first-party titles don't factor in digital sales in these charts, and no specific unit numbers are attached to any of the rankings. So the picture is relative, not absolute. Still, first place is first place.

Capcom's Resident Evil Requiem and the Resident Evil Generation Pack also appeared on the Nintendo charts, showing strong multiplatform crossover interest on Switch 2.

Requiem Dominated Everywhere Else

Zoom out to the broader "Top 20 Best-Selling Premium Games" across all US platforms for February, and the story shifts. Resident Evil: Requiem took the top spot across PlayStation, Xbox, and aggregated PC storefronts, and Piscatella confirmed it "debuted as the best-selling video game of the year."

Capcom announced the game had already sold more than six million units since its release on 27th February 2026. That's a massive debut window.

In that multiplatform context, Mario Tennis Fever placed 11th, while Pokémon Legends: Z-A slipped from 16th to 19th place compared to the previous month.

Switch 2 Hardware Is Pulling Real Numbers

Beyond the software charts, Piscatella's February data included a notable hardware stat: Switch 2 drove 22% year-on-year spending growth in the US market, offsetting declines across other platforms including the original Switch.

The longer view is even more striking. After nine months on the market, Switch 2's life-to-date installed base is tracking 45% ahead of where the original Nintendo Switch was at the same point in its lifecycle (November 2017 being the ninth month for the original Switch). That's not a small gap.

What This Month's Numbers Actually Tell Us

February 2026 painted a clear picture: the Switch 2 is building real momentum, both in software and hardware. Mario Tennis Fever topping the Nintendo-specific charts shows the platform has genuine exclusives drawing players in, not just ports and remasters.

The key here is that Requiem dominating the all-platform charts doesn't diminish what Mario Tennis Fever achieved on Nintendo's side of things. These are two separate conversations happening at the same time, and both are worth paying attention to. Make sure to check out more:
