The Blue Bomber has officially crossed over into Sega's kart racer. Mega Man is now available in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds as the newest Season Pass DLC, arriving hot on the heels of a substantial Ver.1.3.1 patch that dropped last week.
What the Mega Man Pack actually includes
This is a meaty drop for $5.99, or available as part of the Season Pass. Here's the full breakdown of what you get:
- Mega Man and Proto Man as playable racers
- The Rush Roadstar vehicle
- Mega Man Wily Castle Course (a brand-new track)
- Three Mega Man-inspired music tracks: Wily Castle, Mega Man Character Select, and Mega Man: Result
- Six different emotes per character
Sega also confirmed a dedicated Mega Man festival will be running alongside the launch, and World Match is accessible during it, which is a change worth noting given how the game handled that previously.
The patch that set the stage
Before Mega Man arrived, Ver.1.3.1 reshaped quite a bit of how Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds plays. The headline change: World Match can now be played during Festivals, something the community had been pushing for. Sega doubled down on that goodwill by increasing Donpa Ticket rewards across World Match and Legend Competition, with first-place World Match rewards jumping from 20 to 40 tickets.
The update also raised the maximum World Match rating from 99,999 to 999,999, which signals Sega is thinking long-term about competitive play. Eight new Ring-related Gadgets were added, along with a new Bonus Ring Frenzy mode that scatters bonus rings across courses during races.
danger
The Warp Ring item and Warp Ring Specialist Gadget have been disabled in World Match, Festivals, and Legend Competition following an exploit that allowed major course shortcuts. They remain usable against CPU opponents and in Friend Matches.
Balance shifts that actually matter
The competitive meta took a meaningful hit with this patch. Ultimate Charge had its Level 4 Boost invincibility duration cut from 3 seconds to 1.5 seconds. Sega's reasoning is direct: skilled players were using it to block attacks far more often than intended, making it harder for other Gadget builds to compete. The key here is that this opens a clearer window for opponents to counter after activation, rather than eliminating the Gadget's identity entirely.
Collision Boost got a buff, with its speed boost duration extended to make overtaking more viable from mid-pack positions. The Drill item was also reined in, with its effect duration shortened when the player is in 4th place or higher during the final lap.
Several course-specific bugs were squashed too, including a nasty infinite fall in Digital Circuit and a transformation failure in Hidden World.
What's coming after Mega Man
Mega Man is not the end of the Season Pass lineup. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Avatar Legends DLC are both confirmed for future paid releases. On the free side, Red and Goro Majima are slated for April, with Arle following in May.
The physical edition of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for Switch 2 also launched this week for anyone who prefers a cartridge on the shelf.
