Mojang is running a Twitch drops event tied to the Tiny Takeover update, giving Minecraft players three free cosmetic rewards just for watching live streams between April 6 and April 15. The barrier to entry is about as low as it gets: five minutes of watch time and the drop lands in your inbox.
What's actually in the drop pool
Three wearable accessories are up for grabs during the event window. All three are avatar hats, exclusive to this Twitch campaign:
- Hatchling Hat - a freshly-hatched egg-themed headpiece
- Bunny Beanie - a soft knit hat with bunny ears, very on-brand for the baby mob update
- Turtle Tunes - a turtle-themed accessory rounding out the trio
There's also a Baby Chick Chat Badge available, but that one requires purchasing or gifting a Twitch Prime subscription rather than just watching.

Rewards are distributed as random codes to your Twitch inbox after 5 minutes of watch time. You do not choose which drop you receive first, so you may need to watch multiple sessions across different streams to collect all three.
Five minutes is all it takes
The process is straightforward. Link your Twitch account to your Minecraft account, tune into any participating live Minecraft stream, and wait out 5 minutes of watch time. A reward code drops into your Twitch inbox automatically. From there, head to minecraft.net/redeem and enter the code to add the item to your account.
Once redeemed, the accessory shows up in Minecraft's character customization screen. Equip it from there and it'll appear on your avatar in-game.

The key here is that you need to stay within the April 15 deadline. Any unredeemed codes after that date are likely to expire, so don't sit on them.
Why Mojang is doing this now
The Tiny Takeover update is Minecraft's first major drop of 2026, centered around baby mobs and new small creatures joining the game. Tying a Twitch drops campaign to the launch is a smart way to push viewership during the update's release window, and players get free cosmetics out of the deal. The event also coincides with what Mojang teased at Minecraft Live earlier this year, where the studio laid out its update roadmap including the Tiny Takeover and the upcoming Chaos Cubed drop.
For players who already spend time watching Minecraft content on Twitch, this is essentially free gear for doing nothing different. For everyone else, it's worth queuing up a stream in the background for five minutes before the window closes.
