A New FIFA Experience on Netflix
FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition aims to deliver a simplified football experience that is easy to learn while still offering competitive gameplay. Players can enjoy matches alone or with friends online, making it accessible to both casual fans and dedicated football enthusiasts.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the project as an important step for the organization's future in gaming.
"This major collaboration is a key milestone in FIFA's commitment to innovation in the football gaming space," Infantino said. "Our reimagined game truly marks the beginning of a new era of digital football."
The game will be included at no extra cost for all Netflix members.
Play Using Your Phone and TV
One of the game's biggest features is its simple setup. Players can launch FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition through the Games section on Netflix-enabled TVs and use their smartphones as controllers by scanning a QR code.
According to Netflix Games President Alain Tascan, the goal is to make football gaming more accessible for everyone.
"The FIFA World Cup is going to be the cultural event of 2026, and now fans will be able to celebrate their fandom by bringing the game right into their living rooms," Tascan said.
Official Teams, Players, and Stadiums
Launching alongside the FIFA World Cup 2026, the game will feature all 48 participating national teams, 1,248 players, and 16 official tournament stadiums located across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
A limited test begins on June 4 in Brazil and Germany before a wider launch on June 11 across several countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Australia, and more.
Netflix also confirmed that the Launch Edition represents the starting point for the game. Additional features, gameplay improvements, and technical updates are expected to be introduced over time as the community grows.
