Panthera Global Secures $1.5 Million

Hanoi-based mobile RPG developer Panthera Global closed a $1.5 million seed round to bankroll its mid-core lineup. The capital goes toward hiring, beefing up analytics tools, and pushing several action RPG and open-world RPG projects through global soft launch and into live service.

Panthera launched in 2023 with a philosophy that runs counter to the mobile market's usual churn-and-burn tactics. The studio has shipped three games so far, racking up 7.5 million downloads combined. Recent releases Elysia: The Astral Fall and Soul Huntress lean into RPG depth while keeping the barrier to entry low, backed by regular content updates.

Building games that stick around

Panthera's pitch is simple: make games people play for months, not days. T-Accelerate Capital led the round, with CyberAgent Capital joining. The money funds better data pipelines, tighter live ops, and the infrastructure to juggle multiple titles at once without everything falling apart.

Co-founder Vuong Kien says the goal is proving Vietnamese studios can compete on creativity and design, not just volume. The funding buys runway to develop RPG IP that can sustain itself past launch without cutting corners.

Targeting players who want more than a weekend distraction

Panthera's approach reflects a shift happening across Southeast Asia's mobile scene. Studios are aiming higher, building games that hold up against global standards and keep players engaged long-term. The studio's ARPG and open-world RPG projects split the difference between accessibility and the kind of progression systems that hook dedicated players.

Soft launches let Panthera stress-test mechanics, tune retention, and make sure the games work internationally before full rollout. The plan is to ship titles that don't peak at launch and then fade.

What's next

The $1.5 million gives Panthera room to grow the team and sharpen its tech stack while keeping focus on sustainable development. With multiple RPG projects entering soft launch and a bigger crew to support them, the studio is positioning itself as a serious player in Vietnam's mid-core mobile space.

How Panthera balances global ambitions with player-first design will be worth watching as the studio scales.
