The Whispers of the Wind update has officially landed in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and with it comes one of the most requested villagers yet: Pocahontas. Unlike most character unlocks in the game, she does not appear through a Dreamlight-gated realm. Her arrival is tied to a brand-new quest that sends players out to sea with Moana as their guide.
How the quest actually kicks off
The whole thing starts with a letter from Moana directing players to Dazzle Beach, where a patch of glowing algae sits near Skull Rock behind the orb pillars. Picking it up triggers the Whispers in the Wind quest immediately. From there, Moana explains she has been seeing strange winds carrying flower petals swirling around her, and she wants to investigate.
The two of you head out by canoe to a new island. This is where the quest really opens up.
What the island section involves
Once on the island, players follow a trail of swirling pink and purple petals up a slope. Talking to the wind pulls out a pink memory orb, which then reveals two buried treasure spots:
- Behind the petal cluster, between three trees
- On the beach to the right of the boat landing
Digging both spots yields two jewellery pieces. Bringing these back to Moana triggers a puzzle sequence similar to the ones from the Storybook Vale DLC, though notably simpler. The puzzle just asks players to match shapes, and completing it reveals a new algae location off the coast.

When you return to the canoe, head east. The other directions lead to dead ends at this point in the quest.
From there, Moana asks players to gather three wooden planks from a nearby shipwreck to the north. Once collected, players head back east to the whirlpool, build a platform from the canoe's edge, and fish in the centre of the swirling water. The fishing minigame rewards a jewellery piece, which gets repaired at a crafting bench back on the island.
The moment Pocahontas actually shows up
Taking the repaired necklace back to Moana near the petals leads to a dialogue choice with three options. Here is the thing: all three lead to the same outcome, so there is no need to overthink it. Selecting any of them plays a cutscene where the player holds up the necklace and Pocahontas appears.
After a brief exchange about the forgetting that affects all Dreamlight Valley residents, players receive Pocahontas' house plans. Placing them anywhere in the valley and interacting with the Scrooge McDuck construction sign completes the build, and unusually for this game, it costs nothing.
Once the house is up, the welcome screen triggers and Pocahontas joins the permanent villager roster. The quest wraps up by talking to her once more and agreeing to help plan a Celestial Celebration, after which she settles in for good.
What this means for the valley going forward
Pocahontas is a free addition, which continues the pattern Gameloft has maintained with major update characters. Her unlock path is notably shorter than some recent additions, making her accessible even for players who have not logged in for a while. The Celestial Celebration she mentions suggests there is more quest content ahead tied to her friendship track.
