Capcom has pushed a new patch for Resident Evil Requiem that finally delivers what players have been asking for since launch: photo mode. The update is live now across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Photo mode is accessible directly from the pause menu, which means you can freeze the horror mid-crawl and compose your shot without needing to dig through any sub-menus. Given how visually dense Requiem's environments are, that accessibility is a smart call.
Everything this patch actually changes
Beyond photo mode, the update covers a meaningful range of fixes. Here's the full breakdown according to Capcom:
- Photo mode added, accessible from the pause menu
- Fixed a bug that caused progress to halt under certain conditions (a blocker bug, which is about as serious as it gets)
- Typographical errors corrected across multiple languages
- Character expressions in some cutscenes adjusted to better convey emotion
- General gameplay issues resolved
- Visual bugs tied to specific GPU drivers fixed
- A crash bug under certain circumstances has been patched out
The cutscene expression adjustments are worth flagging separately. Requiem leans hard into its character work between Leon Kennedy and Grace, so any tweak to how those moments land emotionally is more than cosmetic cleanup.

The photo mode is accessed via the pause menu and does not require any additional download or unlock. Just update the game and it's there.

The bigger picture for Requiem's post-launch roadmap
Resident Evil Requiem has already sold over 6 million copies, making it the fastest-selling entry in the series' history. Photo mode was one of three post-launch additions that director Koshi Nakanishi had previously confirmed, alongside a new minigame and a story expansion that promises to go deeper into Requiem's world. No release window has been announced for either of those yet.
The series itself just hit its 30th anniversary, with Resident Evil executive producer Jun Takeuchi promising more experiences ahead without committing to specifics. For now, players have a fully functional photo mode to work with while waiting on the bigger content drops. Make sure to check out more:
