Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has been on a tear since launch, and Sega just made sure players know the good times aren't stopping anytime soon. The publisher has dropped an updated post-launch roadmap packed with paid DLC and free character additions stretching well into the second half of the year.

What's Already Locked In for Q2

The roadmap confirms that Mega Man is the headline paid DLC drop for Q2 2026, and according to Sega's updated roadmap details, it's landing next week. That's on top of three free DLC characters arriving across April and May, which were announced earlier this week. So if you've been holding out to see whether Sega would keep supporting the game, you have your answer.

The key here is that the free characters aren't a one-off bonus. They're part of a consistent cadence Sega has been building since CrossWorlds launched last September.

TMNT and Avatar Are Coming in Q3

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Avatar are both currently on track for a Q3 2026 release. That's a seriously eclectic lineup sharing the same race grid, and it signals that Sega is leaning hard into crossover appeal as a long-term strategy for the game. Joining those two paid additions will be another three free DLC racers, bringing the total wave of post-launch free characters to at least six.

The Demo Just Got Bigger (On Some Platforms)

Alongside the roadmap news, Sega also pushed out a free demo update for select platforms. The update brings Extreme Gear Machines into the demo, pushing the machine count up to 15. It's offline and single-player only, but it gives newcomers a much meatier taste of what the full game offers.

Here's the thing though: the Switch version hasn't received this update yet. There's a Switch 2 eShop listing that points to the older Switch demo, so if you're on Nintendo hardware, you won't have access to the Extreme Machines content right now. Sega hasn't confirmed when or if that version will be updated.

One useful note for anyone trying the demo: save data carries over to the full game if you decide to buy it, but Time Trial results won't transfer to the full version's leaderboard.

A Steady Stream of Content

Putting it all together, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is shaping up to have one of the more active post-launch support schedules in the racing genre right now. Paid DLC, free characters, demo updates, and a roadmap that extends months out. That's a meaningful commitment from Sega, and players who are already in the game have plenty to look forward to.
