Nintendo has confirmed the release of Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park, scheduled for March 26. The update introduces a new playable area, Bellabel Park, alongside additional multiplayer features, characters, and gameplay options. This expansion is designed to enhance both solo and cooperative play within the Flower Kingdom, offering fresh challenges for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
Exploring Bellabel Park
Bellabel Park, recently discovered by Captain Toad, serves as a central hub for multiplayer activity. Players can navigate the park alone or team up with friends to complete a variety of courses. At the heart of the area is Attraction Central, which provides multiple gameplay options. Local Multiplayer Plaza and Tour Plaza support up to four players on a single system, while Game Room Plaza accommodates up to twelve players through local wireless or online connections. For players whose friends do not own the game or the Nintendo Switch 2, the GameShare feature allows up to three additional players to join a session temporarily, even on the original Nintendo Switch system.
Toad Brigade Training and Challenges
Bellabel Park also hosts the Toad Brigade Training Camp, which allows players to take on challenges and obstacles drawn from the main game. These courses encourage both individual skill development and teamwork. One to four players can participate in objectives, and as players progress through the main game, additional training courses become accessible, providing continued gameplay variety.
New Playable Characters: Rosalina and Co-Star Luma
The expansion introduces Rosalina to the Flower Kingdom, along with her companion, Co-Star Luma. Rosalina can use all the standard power-ups available to Mario and other characters, in addition to the new Super Flower Pot power-up. This ability enables extended jumps and interactive gameplay with the environment. Co-Star Luma offers support in multiplayer sessions, allowing one player to assist another by flying through levels, spinning to defeat enemies, and collecting coins. Luma can also be controlled using Joy-Con 2 controller motion, adding an extra layer of cooperative strategy.
Koopalings and Boss Challenges
The update also brings the seven Koopalings into the Flower Kingdom, spreading across multiple worlds and introducing new boss courses. Players must navigate these encounters while adapting their strategies to overcome obstacles and defeat these new adversaries.
Assist Mode for New Players
To make the game more accessible, a new Assist Mode has been added. This feature prevents players from taking damage, making exploration easier and reducing frustration for newcomers. The mode also includes safety mechanisms, such as the Propeller Flower, which prevents falls into pits by lifting characters back to safety.
Versions and Upgrade Options
Players who already own the original Nintendo Switch version of Super Mario Bros. Wonder can access the new content through an upgrade pack priced at $19.99. Those entering the Flower Kingdom for the first time can purchase the full Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park for $59.99.
