Frostallion is one of the most sought-after Pals in Palworld, and there are actually two versions worth hunting: the Ice-type original on the Astral Mountains and its Dark-type counterpart, Frostallion Noct, locked inside a sealed realm on Feybreak Island. Both are Legendary Alpha fights, both demand serious preparation, and confusing one for the other is the most common mistake players make. Here's exactly where each one lives and how to take them down.
Where to find Frostallion
The original Frostallion spawns exclusively as an Alpha Pal in the Astral Mountains, north of Twilight Dunes and east of the Dancing Sakura Shrine. There's no roaming version in the wild, so don't waste time searching the surrounding snowfields. The Astral Mountains sit in a cold biome, which means you'll need proper cold resistance gear before you even think about trekking out there.
Frostallion is Ice-type, so Fire-type Pals are your best tool here. Bring several high-level Fire-types to chip through its health bar efficiently, and make sure your cold resistance is solid enough to survive the environment while you're at it. The fight itself is a standard Alpha encounter, but the cold weather adds a layer of pressure if you arrive underprepared.
What does Frostallion drop?
Beating or catching Frostallion yields different rewards depending on whether you fight the regular or Alpha version:
Once caught, Frostallion brings Cooling Level 7 Work Suitability to your base, making it one of the best options for powering Refrigerators and keeping your food supply from spoiling. You can also ride it as a flying mount after crafting the Frostallion Saddle. Its Partner Skill, Ice Steed, converts your attacks to Ice-type and boosts Ice damage while mounted.

Where to find Frostallion Noct
Frostallion Noct is a completely separate encounter and lives nowhere near the snowy tundra. Before the 1.0 update, it was breeding-only, requiring a combination of Frostallion and Helzephyr at a Breeding Farm. That changed with 1.0, which added a proper boss spawn in the Sealed Realm of the Black Pegasus on Feybreak Island, the new endgame area.
The encounter sits on the right side of the desert biome on Feybreak Island. The best-supported waypoint is around -1082, -1320, though the sealed realm entrance is also reported near -1256, -968. Treat both as rough markers for the same dungeon and navigate by the desert biome landmark once you're close. The cleanest fast-travel anchor is the Hidden Passage to the Oculus Gate teleport point, with the realm sitting to its southwest.
How to reach the Sealed Realm of the Black Pegasus
- Fast travel to Feybreak Island via the Hidden Passage to the Oculus Gate.
- Cross to the right side of the desert biome.
- Locate the open crystal landmark that marks the sealed realm entrance.
- Approach Frostallion Noct standing in front of the crystal and engage.
Some sealed realms require Pal Bounty Tokens at the gate, so carry a few before you make the trip. The exact token cost for this realm isn't consistently documented, but showing up empty-handed and having to turn back is a frustrating detour.
How to beat Frostallion Noct?
This is a late-game encounter, so treat it seriously. Noct is listed as a level 60 Dark-type Legendary Alpha, though some players encounter it closer to level 65. Either way, bring endgame armor, your best weapons, and healing items or a dedicated healer Pal.
The element matchup is the single biggest factor in how long the fight takes. Noct is Dark-type and takes 1.5x damage from Dragon, while Neutral attacks deal only 0.5x. Swapping to Dragon-type Pals before you engage isn't optional if you want an efficient fight.

Palworld Guide: Where to Find Frostallion
For the catch, use Exotic Spheres or the highest tier you can craft. Legendary Alphas shrug off weaker spheres regularly, so bring spares. Whittle its HP down as far as possible before throwing, but hold back enough to avoid knocking it out by accident.
What does Frostallion Noct drop?
Defeating Noct rewards Pure Quartz x10 and Large Pal Soul x1, plus the Paldeck entry and access to the Black Steed flying mount once you craft the saddle.
Common mistakes when hunting these Pals
The biggest time-waster is searching the Land of Absolute Zero for Frostallion Noct. Regular Frostallion spawns at roughly -357, 508 in that icy biome. Noct is in the Feybreak desert. The two couldn't be further apart geographically or element-wise.
The second mistake is relying on pre-1.0 guides that list Noct as breeding-only. That information is out of date. You can still breed it using Frostallion and Helzephyr if you want to, but the sealed realm boss now exists as a direct alternative.
Finally, don't forget the saddle. Catching either Frostallion unlocks a flying mount in principle, but you won't actually ride either one until you craft the corresponding saddle.
