Anime Crusaders throws over 73 units at you across Secret, Mythic, Legendary, and lower rarities, and you can only field 6 at a time. That gap between roster size and squad limit is where most players lose hours of progress chasing the wrong characters. This guide breaks down every unit from the absolute best to the ones you should bench the moment something better drops.
What makes an S Tier unit?
The S Tier in Anime Crusaders is dominated by Secret and Mythic units that either pump out massive DPS, buff the whole team, or do both. A few patterns stand out after reviewing the full list.
Puci (Made in Heaven) carries a time acceleration ability that trims cooldowns by 2%, which compounds significantly across a long wave. The tradeoff is that the strongest abilities stay locked behind heavy upgrades, so expect a slow start. Sun Woo (System) pairs high DPS with shadow summons but costs a serious amount of currency to deploy and upgrade, and the attack speed is notably slow.
Beyond Heaven handles crowd control and deals extra damage with a reduced cooldown, but can only be placed once per match. That placement decision matters more than almost any other choice you make. Seraph is arguably the cleanest all-round pick in the tier: one of the best DPS and range values in the game, plus a nearby-unit damage boost. The deployment cost is high, but the output justifies it.
Igrith (Blood Commander) deserves special attention because it buffs the entire team's damage output and has documented synergy with Sun Woo. If you have both, they belong together. The catch is that maximizing Igrith requires a large money investment.
info
Igrith (Blood Commander) and Sun Woo (System) are confirmed by the source to synergize directly. If you pull both, always deploy them together.
Slime (Demon Lord) scales its DPS over time, which makes it better the longer a wave runs. Pair it with units that can stall or slow enemies and the damage output becomes substantial. Goko (Perfected Super 3) is the top Hill unit in the S Tier, built for the late-game grind, though it demands one of the largest currency investments in the roster.

S Tier Units
A Tier Units
The A Tier is where most players will spend the bulk of their time, and there are genuine carries here. Shunks (Haki) has very high DPS with Haki-based attacks, but it's rare and expensive to obtain. Bones is the most interesting unit in this tier: every kill it records increases its own damage, which means it gets scarier the longer a wave lasts. The short range is a real limitation, so placement near choke points is non-negotiable.
Goju (Supreme) stuns enemies on hit and brings strong base stats, but the long SPA and upgrade cost during active waves can catch you out. Boo (Ultimate) transforms mid-battle for flexibility across different scenarios, though the transformation mechanic has a learning curve.
warning
Shunks (Haki) is flagged as quite rare and requires a large currency investment. Don't count on pulling it early.
Haein (Sword Queen) maintains consistent DPS throughout a fight without relying on special abilities, which makes her one of the more reliable picks in the tier even if she lacks standout utility.
B Tier Units
B Tier units generally work best when supporting a stronger core. Speedcart is the one exception: it's listed as one of the best farming units in early game stages, but it has near-zero DPS and cannot attack enemies directly. Bring it early, replace it fast.
Heisou (Bird Sniper) and Chonin (Flame Master) both occupy the Hill placement type, which is useful for positioning. Heisou has solid base damage with a critical hit chance; Chonin applies burning damage to groups but struggles against faster enemies due to high SPA.
AI (Idol) does almost no damage on its own but buffs the team's output, making it a useful filler slot if you're running a DPS-heavy lineup and need one support slot.
C and D Tier Units
C Tier units are mostly early-to-mid game options that fall off as wave difficulty climbs. Rose has a large attack range and strong damage output, but that damage stops scaling at higher stages. Yuji attacks with powerful combos at low SPA but suffers the same scaling problem. Makunouchi clears early waves quickly with fast combo attacks but has low range and average damage that won't hold up later.
D Tier is early game only, full stop. Goko (the base version, not Perfected Super 3) has decent DPS for the opening levels but falls apart on harder content. Pikoko chains electric attacks across multiple enemies, which sounds useful until you see how low the actual damage values are. Every D Tier unit should be replaced as soon as a B Tier or higher alternative becomes available.
info
The base Goko in D Tier and Goko (Perfected Super 3) in S Tier are different units. Don't confuse them when planning your roster.
How to get new units in Anime Crusaders
All summons happen at the Summon area in the lobby, reachable directly from your spawn point. Look for the blue banner overhead. Each pull costs either 50 Gems for a single summon or 500 Gems for a 10-pull. Before spending, check which units are featured on the active banner since better-featured units carry higher pull rates.
The Special and Event banners are accessible from the top-left of the summon window and often feature limited or rotated units worth checking before committing gems to the standard pool.
Short on gems? The AFK Chamber (also called the Time Machine), located to the left of the Summon area, generates passive gem income. Grinding Story mode waves, Challenges, and Raids also rewards gems. Free codes posted by the developers are another consistent source.
