Slime Seas spreads its NPCs across multiple massive zones, and finding the right one when you actually need them is harder than it should be. Whether you're chasing your first weapon upgrade, trying to unlock pets, or hunting down the potion station, this guide covers every NPC location confirmed in the game so far, plus how the Blacksmith and Potion stations work.
Every NPC location in Slime Seas
The game splits its NPCs into two broad categories: characters you interact with directly (quest givers, merchants, boat spawners) and station-based systems that have no NPC attached at all. Knowing which is which saves a lot of aimless running around.
Here's the full breakdown of every confirmed NPC, where to find them, and what they actually do:
info
This list reflects confirmed NPCs as of April 2026. Slime Seas is a live-service game, so new NPCs are being added regularly. Check back as the guide gets updated.
Who should you talk to first?
Chief Brak III on Hub Island is technically the first NPC in the intended story flow, but practically speaking, Brigurd on Starter Island is the one who matters most in your first hour. His repeatable quests are the fastest way to grind from level 1 to level 30, earn around 2,000 to 3,000 gold for a proper weapon, and stack enough stat points to build something useful. Talk to Chief Brak III to start the story, then run Brigurd's quests until you're ready to move on.

info
The Merchant on Starter Island is right next to the World Spawn and Daily Spinner. Spin the Daily Spinner every session before doing anything else since it can drop Upgrade Crystals.
Where is the potion station in Slime Seas?
There is no dedicated potion seller NPC in Slime Seas. Instead, the HUB Island in the Slime Forest zone has a standalone Potion Station in the central square, marked by a large neon Potions sign. You craft potions here directly without needing to talk to anyone.
Witch Doctor Baba in World 3 expands what you can brew by unlocking new recipes through her questline, but she doesn't sell potions herself.
Here's what the crafting station produces, organized by type:
Luck potions have the highest multiplier ceiling at 2x for 30 minutes at the Superior tier, making them the most valuable for loot-focused grinding sessions.
Is there a blacksmith NPC in Slime Seas?
No blacksmith character exists in the game. Like the Potion Station, gear upgrading and dismantling happens at a dedicated Blacksmith Station on HUB Island, with no NPC attached.
How to upgrade gear
Upgrading requires Upgrade Crystals, which drop from loot chests that Slimes have a chance to leave behind. You can also get them from the Daily Spin or by dismantling gear you no longer need.
The upgrade system works like this:
- The first upgrade on any item is always 100% guaranteed.
- Each successful upgrade reduces the success chance by 5%.
- Each failed upgrade increases the success chance by 5%.
- The Crystal rarity must match the item rarity you're upgrading.
- Runes can be applied to boost success rate and prevent the chance from dropping on a failed attempt.
warning
Upgrade Crystals cannot be bought with Robux or Gems. They are not a pay-to-win item, so the only sources are loot chests, dismantling, and the Daily Spin. Don't burn them carelessly on low-rarity gear.
How to dismantle gear
When a weapon or armor piece gets replaced, you have two options: sell it to a Merchant NPC for gold, or feed it into the Blacksmith Station to get an Upgrade Crystal back.
Key rules for dismantling:
- Dismantling is not instant and takes time to process.
- It works offline, so you don't need to sit in-game waiting.
- Any weapon, regardless of how many upgrades it has on it, always returns exactly one Upgrade Crystal of the same rarity as the base item.
- If you queue something by mistake, you can cancel it for free from the dismantling menu in the UI before the process finishes.
- Once dismantling completes, the item is gone permanently. The Crystal will be sitting in the queue ready to collect.

What about the Pirate NPC and sea travel?
The Pirate NPC appears near docks on most islands and exists for one purpose: spawning your boat. Once you're on the water, PvP is enabled, so treat open-sea travel as a risk zone, especially in the early game. You can only control the boat you personally spawned; other players' boats are off-limits.
Adventurer Dave, positioned next to the Lord Rima Boss Room, handles the fast travel system. His quest teaches you how to activate Waypoints scattered across islands. Once a Waypoint is active, you can teleport to it instantly through the Teleport menu instead of sailing every time.
info
Prioritize activating Waypoints as early as possible. The time saved on travel adds up fast, especially during grinding sessions where you're repeating the same routes.
Ash, the Pet Master: how to unlock him
Ash sits on the Ice Bridge above the Rima Boss area, but you can't interact with him until after you've defeated Rima at least once. His questline centers on hatching a Drake egg, and completing it rewards you with the Drake as a permanent pet. If getting a pet early is a priority, defeating Rima and speaking to Ash should be high on your to-do list.
