Scott Pilgrim EX brings the beloved universe back with a brand-new beat'em up built around an open-world Toronto, a roster of seven playable fighters, and a trophy list that rewards both casual brawlers and dedicated completionists. The platinum is rated 3/10 in difficulty and takes roughly 18-25 hours across a minimum of seven playthroughs. Most of that time is spent enjoying the game, not grinding, which makes this one of the more approachable platinum runs you can tackle.
What You Need to Know Before Starting
Before jumping into your first fight, there are a few critical facts that will save you hours of frustration.
- Difficulty does not affect trophies. Play on Super Easy whenever you want.
- 7 missable trophies exist, so planning your playthroughs in advance is essential.
- 3 trophies are currently glitched and require specific workarounds to unlock.
- The game has New Game+, which carries over your character stats, making later runs significantly faster.
- There is no manual save, but a clear save is created automatically after you finish the game.

Playthrough Roadmap Overview
Here is how to structure your seven runs for maximum efficiency.
Step 1: First Playthrough — Can You Go the Distance?
How to Earn 1CC Without Dying
Your first run sets the foundation. Play on Super Easy and treat survivability as your top priority.
- Spend coins on Strength and Vitality upgrades early. These two stats directly affect how much damage you deal and how much punishment you can absorb.
- Buy food items To Go from shops. These act as a one-time auto-revive upon death, giving you a safety net without technically counting as a KO.
- Heal at shops frequently rather than pushing through low health.
- At the final boss (Mecha-Gideon), use the Stephen Stills assist to apply invincibility, then strike with the hammers on the floor. Reapply invincibility each time it expires and repeat until the fight ends.
Step 2: New Game+ Speedrun — Under 90 Minutes
How to Beat Scott Pilgrim EX in Under 90 Minutes
Before launching your New Game+, load your clear save and visit No-Account Video in the Shopping District to max out your chosen character's stats. Note that No-Account Video only becomes accessible halfway through Quest 5, so this shop requires a completed save to access freely.
- Each stat purchase at No-Account Video raises the attribute by +8 points for $19.95.
- The maximum level for any stat is 64. Maxing a single stat earns you the Proficiency Gold trophy.
- Prioritize Strength and Vitality first. Willpower and Agility are helpful but less critical for the run.
- Once in the run, ignore optional fights and sprint directly to each quest objective.
- A well-prepared character leaves roughly 15 minutes to spare, so the time limit is forgiving.
- At the final boss of this run, attempt the Perfect Gold trophy: defeat Mecha-Gideon without taking a single hit using the Stephen Stills invincibility method.

Use a different character from your first playthrough here. You need to see all seven character endings across your runs, so track which fighters you have and haven't used.
Step 3: Boss Trophy Playthrough — Tag Team
How to Earn Tag Team in One Run
Tag Team requires you to defeat 7 bosses using 7 different characters within a single playthrough. Here is the complete boss list across all 12 quests:
- Quest 1: Metal Scott (does NOT count toward Tag Team)
- Quest 2: Saurotodd
- Quest 3: Lady Envy
- Quest 4: Phantom Twin
- Quest 5: Super Simon Lee
- Quest 6 (mid): Metal Scott (does NOT count)
- Quest 6: Baby G
- Quest 7: Big Band Matty
- Quest 8: Gideona
- Quest 9: Steamtrain Luke
- Quest 10: Gordeon
- Quest 11: Metal Scott (does NOT count)
- Quest 12: Mecha-Gideon
Swap characters after each non-Metal Scott boss by visiting the house on the right side of the Suburbs. Switch earlier in the quest list rather than later, since earlier bosses are easier to handle with lower stats.
Also during this run, get the boss in Quest 2 down to roughly 5% HP, then finish him with the Young Neil assist (unlocked by completing Quest 3 on a previous run) to earn Fan Support.

Step 4: Co-op Trophies — Bring a Second Controller
You do not need a second player for the entire run, just the early portion. Here is what to knock out:
- Friendship! Play as Gideon and Lucas Lee together and complete any full quest from start to finish without swapping.
- Valentine's Day Have Player 1 use Scott and Player 2 use Ramona, then press Down while holding L2 to hand Ramona a heart.
- Spare Change Immediately after, have Ramona press Up while holding L2 to hand $1 to Scott.
- Need a Lift? Jump onto the other player's head while they walk around. Avoid trying this with Lucas Lee as his height makes it awkward to land on.
Ninja Unmasked specifics: starting from Quest 6, find the Ninja in High Park who flees on first contact. Chase them to the Studio Gates and defeat them as Roxie (via Player 2) to unlock it.
Maverick Hunter specifics: defeat 100 robots while Player 2 plays as Robot-01. The Underground Lab area during Quest 12 is a reliable farming spot. Avoid the elevator room, as robots defeated there do not count.
Step 5-7: Final Playthroughs and Cleanup
Finishing All Seven Character Endings
The Grand Finale Gold trophy requires seeing the ending for all seven playable characters. The ending you receive is tied to whichever character you used to beat the most quests in a given run. Check the pause screen to see your current quest-clear breakdown per character.
By runs 5, 6, and 7, you should have plenty of accumulated money to purchase everything from shops, which covers:
- Badger (own all badges)
- Walk-In Closet (own all accessories)
- Nutrition Facts (purchase every consumable at least once to reveal their hidden effects)
Useful money-farming items include the Fridge Magnet and Big Nickel, both of which boost your coin income from defeated enemies.

Fun Trophies Worth Knowing About
Trick Shot
Throw a turnip and knock down 4 enemies in a row. The optional battle behind the cracked bombable wall in the Shopping Area spawns enough enemies to make this straightforward. Turnips can also appear in the Ice Age area.
Play Ball!
In High Park, a baseball bat and volleyball sometimes spawn near the entrance. Bounce the volleyball off a wall, then hit it mid-air with the bat. Re-enter the area until both items appear.
Beach Ball Bowling Anybody?
Carry a beach ball to the final boss area in Quest 12. Enter the rift once first (you will drop your item), then return with a beach ball. The Warehouse nearby has a 50% spawn chance for beach balls on the right side.
Green Tunic
Use a bomb to blow open a secret area. The easiest cracked wall is to the far left of the Shopping Area. Bombs become available in Quest 2 via bomb machines that cost $1 each.
Shady Business
Find the hidden shop in the Underpass, tucked against a wall not blocked by a barrier.
Team Gideon
While playing as Gideon, simply equip the Gideon (cat) assist in the Touchpad menu. You do not even need to use it.
