Shatterpoint is a mobile multiplayer action game where three players jump into short PvPvE matches to collect Shards and outscore each other before the timer runs out. It blends PvP skirmishes with monster-fighting and objective-based gameplay, offering a session-based format that’s easy to pick up but rewards players who learn how to move smart, build right, and pick their battles.
The game originally started development in 2021 but went through a major overhaul after its first versions didn’t live up to expectations. It was rebuilt from the ground up in collaboration with Big Time and Open Loot, and now comes from a new mobile-focused studio called Point Games. The goal is to deliver a competitive Web3 title that’s designed with players in mind — whether you’re here to win matches, craft gear, or earn rewards through gameplay.
Game Lore
Shatterpoint takes place in a fractured universe still reeling from a mysterious cosmic event. The “Shatterpoint” itself caused time and space to tear, opening up portals, unlocking strange powers, and pulling together characters from very different worlds. It’s a sci-fi setting filled with mystery, but instead of forcing you to sit through heavy story dumps, the game builds its world through its heroes.
Each hero comes with a bit of backstory that ties into the bigger universe. There’s Trevor, a rugged mercenary turned relic hunter who stumbles into an ancient warning. Sheer-Ei is a quantum physicist who figured out teleportation but now sees signs of a universal reset. Baynite is a scavenger caught in the chaos of collapsing worlds. Then there’s Admiral Finlay Scofield, who’s part-human, part-infected with alien tech, and finally, Sha Tu’Szu, a prophet-like figure chasing ancient prophecies. The lore isn’t front-and-center, but it adds texture to the characters and the chaos they’re all fighting through.
Gameplay and Features
Shatterpoint is a fast-paced mobile arena game where three players drop into a shared map and race to collect as many Shards as possible before the timer ends. The core loop mixes PvP and PvE, with every match putting you in direct competition against two other playersm and the environment itself. Monsters roam the map, treasure chests are hidden across different zones, and one-time quests reward bonus Shards to whoever completes them first.
The twist is that Shards aren’t just picked up — they can be stolen. Defeating another player in combat instantly takes 20% of their Shard total, making PvP fights a high-risk, high-reward gamble. You can see how many Shards everyone has in real time on the HUD, which makes strategy and timing essential. If you’re ahead, you’ll need to dodge incoming fights and hold your lead. If you’re behind, your best shot might be hunting down whoever’s on top.
Combat is real-time and ability-driven. Each hero brings four rune abilities into a match — including mobility skills like Dash and Shadowstep, AoE damage like Flurry and Whirlwind, or support tools like Heal Grenade and Reflect Damage. You can craft runes and upgrade them over time, allowing for deeper synergy and customization. Whether you prefer hit-and-run tactics or diving into full brawls, the rune system gives you the tools to play your way.
Beyond runes, your hero’s power also comes from equipment. You can craft helmets, weapons, boots, gloves, and more using resources gathered in matches. Gear has tiers and rarities, and some items come with affixes — bonus traits like lifesteal, cooldown reduction, or damage boosts under certain conditions. Armor is split into light and heavy, letting you spec into speed and offense or durability and sustain.
The arena itself isn’t static either. Some zones are more dangerous but come with better rewards. The center of the map usually has tougher monsters and higher shard density — but also more player activity. There are also rare spawns like the Shard Crab, which drops a huge amount of Shards if you can kill it before someone else swoops in. Temporary power-ups spawn across the map, giving you buffs like movement speed, damage, or regeneration — which can turn the tide in close fights.
Outside matches, Shatterpoint runs on a seasonal system with dynamic leaderboards. Each season comes with rotating quests and objectives, encouraging you to experiment with different strategies instead of just grinding the same path. Completing tasks and climbing the ranks earns you Sparks — a pre-launch currency that will convert into $POINT tokens after the Token Generation Event. Leaderboards reset at the end of each season, so everyone gets a fresh shot at rewards.
NFTs and Blockchain
Shatterpoint integrates Web3 features through Open Loot, but most of it stays optional unless you want to dive into the game’s economy. Digital ownership comes into play through collectible items like equipment, cosmetics, and utility assets that you can craft, enhance, and trade.
Equipment collectibles are upgraded versions of in-game gear. By infusing gear with $POINT tokens, you boost its stats and turn it into a tradeable asset. Cosmetics work similarly — they change your hero’s look and sometimes unlock access to special events. Creating these items requires tools like Cosmetic Printers or Crystal Forges, depending on the type.
Crystals are the most important utility NFT. When equipped, they let you earn $POINT by winning PvP matches. To activate a Crystal, you first need to craft it using a Crystal Forge and infuse it with Dust. Crystals are limited in supply, and the infusion cost adjusts based on how many players are using them, helping control the rate of token generation.
$POINT is the main token behind Shatterpoint’s economy. It’s earned strictly through gameplay — no presales or investor allocations. Around 70 percent of the total supply is reserved for players. You’ll use $POINT to craft collectibles, unlock events, or trade outside the game if you choose. For now, early players earn Sparks, which act as a placeholder for $POINT. Sparks are given out through the Play2Airdrop campaign by winning PvP matches with Crystals, ranking on the leaderboard, or referring friends who play and win.
How to Get Started
Shatterpoint is still in early access, and it’s not open to everyone just yet. You’ll need an access code to play the current build, so unless you’ve already got one, you’ll have to wait a bit before you can jump in. The full launch is coming soon on both Android and iOS, but for now, only a limited group of players are getting in.
Thanks to its backing from Open Loot and Big Time, the game is steadily ramping up through these early access phases.
