The Shifting Sands DLC for Soulmask launched on April 10, 2026, and it's free for everyone who owns the base game. CampFire Studio dropped four Egyptian god masks into the new desert region, each tied to a specific boss encounter and each doing something genuinely different in Mimicry mode. The Horus Mask hands itself to you automatically. The other three require you to find Ancient Pyramids, fight pyramid bosses, and earn them the hard way.

What is the Shifting Sands DLC?
Shifting Sands is the first major DLC for Soulmask, the open-world survival crafting game by CampFire Studio. The expansion brings an Egyptian-themed desert biome with new enemies, pyramid dungeons, and four masks themed around gods from Egyptian mythology: Horus, Sobek, Anubis, and Amun-Ra. According to the official IGN trailer description, the DLC launched April 10, 2026 on PC via both Steam and the Epic Games Store. All existing and new owners get access at no extra cost.
info
The Shifting Sands DLC is free for all Soulmask owners, both existing players and anyone buying the game after April 10, 2026.
How many masks are in Shifting Sands?
There are exactly 4 new masks added by the DLC:
- Horus Mask: Celestial Wings (automatic unlock)
- Sobek Mask: Abyss Overlord (boss drop)
- Anubis Mask: Doomsday Judgment (boss drop)
- Amun-Ra Mask: Glorious Hymn (boss drop)
All four slot into your existing mask collection once obtained. The Horus Mask is the only one you get without a fight.
Where to find all Shifting Sands masks
Horus Mask: Celestial Wings
This one requires zero effort. According to Destructoid's guide, the Horus Mask unlocks by default as you begin the DLC, arriving as you fall from the sky at the start. Beyond just being your entry point into the expansion, it grants flight in Mimicry mode, which makes navigating the desert biome significantly faster from the jump.

Sobek pyramid at Three River Junction
Sobek Mask: Abyss Overlord
Head to the Three River Junction area. Near the portal named Barren Sandland, you'll find an Ancient Pyramid. That's where Sobek waits. Per Destructoid's coverage, this is described as a difficult fight early in the DLC, so don't walk in underprepared.
Once you beat Sobek, the Abyss Overlord mask drops. Its kit is built entirely around underwater survival and combat:
- Expanded oxygen pool for longer breath-holding
- Faster swim speed
- Reduced incoming arrow damage
- HP recovery through self-healing while active
- 20% Critical hit buff
info
If you plan to explore any underwater areas in the desert biome, the Sobek Mask is the one to equip first. The oxygen extension alone changes how much ground you can cover beneath the surface.
Anubis Mask: Doomsday Judgment
The Anubis Mask is found near Sunken City. A mysterious portal in the area provides fast travel access. North of that portal sits an Ancient Pyramid. Defeating Anubis inside gives you a key to a nearby pyramid that contains the mask itself.
The Doomsday Judgment mask's Mimicry mode transforms you into Anubis and provides three distinct effects, according to Destructoid:
- Bandage duration increased by 50%
- Status effects applied to you get reflected onto the enemy instead
- Killing marked enemies in Mimicry mode raises them as undead allies
The status reflect mechanic alone makes this mask worth hunting down for PvP situations. Having a small undead army on top of that is a meaningful combat advantage.

Anubis undead army ability
Amun-Ra Mask: Glorious Hymn
Travel north from the river junction to Rock Lake. The Rock Lake mysterious portal marks the fast travel point, and another Ancient Pyramid sits to its north. The boss inside is the Scarab, not Amun-Ra directly. Beat the Scarab and the Glorious Hymn mask is yours.
This mask runs on solar energy conversion and deals damage in several ways:
- Laser energy exposes enemy weak points
- Mimicry mode generates energy pulses that damage enemies within range
- Burn ability deals damage over time to enemies directly in front of you
warning
The Scarab boss at Rock Lake sits at the far north of the map. Make sure you're well-stocked on supplies before making the trek, especially if you're going straight from unlocking the DLC.
Mask abilities compared
What order should you get the masks?
The Horus Mask is automatic, so that's your starting point regardless. For the remaining three, Sobek at Three River Junction is described as the first major challenge in the DLC, which suggests it's the intended second stop. Anubis near Sunken City and Amun-Ra at Rock Lake both require more travel, with Rock Lake sitting at the northern edge of the map.
A reasonable progression path based on geography and difficulty:
- Horus Mask (automatic)
- Sobek Mask at Three River Junction (first pyramid boss)
- Anubis Mask near Sunken City (mid-DLC challenge)
- Amun-Ra Mask at Rock Lake (northernmost location)
danger
Each mask requires defeating a pyramid boss, and the DLC is described as challenging from the start. Don't rush into pyramid fights without proper gear and supplies.
