The Fateweaver trait in TFT Set 17: Space Gods is built around one idea: make luck work for you instead of against you. Every champion in this trait has some form of chance-based mechanic baked into their kit, and Fateweaver's bonuses turn those coin flips into loaded dice. If you enjoy comps that reward smart positioning and snowball hard when they hit, this is worth understanding inside and out.

What does the Fateweaver trait do?

According to Mobalytics, Fateweaver has an innate passive called Precision, which gives all Fateweaver units Spell Crit. That means their abilities can critically strike before you even activate the trait threshold. From there, the two breakpoints are:

  • (2) Lucky Chance Effects: Any chance-based effect on a Fateweaver ability now checks twice and takes the better outcome. That's the core of the "Lucky" mechanic.
  • (4) Crit Amplification: The whole team gains 20% Crit Chance and 10% Crit Damage. On top of that, critical strikes themselves become Lucky, meaning they also roll twice and take the better result.

Who are the Fateweaver champions?

The trait has 4 champions spanning the 1-cost to 4-cost range, each with a secondary trait that opens up branching synergies.

Caitlyn (1-cost, N.O.V.A.)

Caitlyn passively aims for the head, giving all of her basic attacks a chance to deal empowered physical damage. As a N.O.V.A. unit, she also grants Attack Speed to allies, making her a strong early-game support piece even if you're not building around her. For a 1-cost, she punches above her weight class as an AD backliner.

Twisted Fate (1-cost, Stargazer)

Twisted Fate draws cards with a value between 1 and 9, and that number directly affects the magic damage he deals. Any excess damage bounces to the nearest enemy. The variance here is massive at baseline, which is exactly why Fateweaver matters for him. Without the Lucky bonus, you're fully at the mercy of the draw. With (2) Fateweaver active, every card draw checks twice, which meaningfully shifts his average outcome upward. His secondary trait Stargazer adds further utility if you're building in that direction.

Milio (2-cost, Timebreaker)

Milio fires his ULTRA MEGA TIME KICK at an enemy, dealing magic damage and bouncing on impact. The first bounce is guaranteed at 100%, but each subsequent bounce has its odds halved. So the second bounce is 50%, the third is 25%, and so on. Fateweaver's Lucky mechanic applies to those bounce checks, which means you're rolling twice each time and taking the better result. In practice, this makes Milio's chain significantly more reliable than his base numbers suggest. His Timebreaker secondary trait gives you another avenue for synergy if you want to build around him.

Corki (4-cost, Meeple)

Corki is the primary carry target for a full Fateweaver build. His Asteroid Blaster ability has him strafe and fire missiles that deal physical damage to the target and nearby enemies. With Meeple active, he also launches Explosive Meeps. The cherry on top: Corki has a chance to fire mega missiles for extra damage, and with Fateweaver's Lucky bonus applying to that roll, you'll see those mega missiles far more often. Stacking both Meeple and Fateweaver on Corki creates a genuinely threatening carry that scales well into late game.

What secondary traits should you branch into?

Each Fateweaver champion brings a second trait to the board, and those secondary traits are worth considering when you're building out your roster.

  • N.O.V.A. via Caitlyn: Attack Speed buff for allies, strong in AD-heavy comps.
  • Stargazer via Twisted Fate: Worth exploring if you're running multiple Stargazer units.
  • Timebreaker via Milio: Pairs well if you're already invested in Timebreaker units elsewhere.
  • Meeple via Corki: Directly amplifies Corki's damage output, making it one of the most natural double-dipping synergies in the comp.

According to Mobalytics, the Meeple and Fateweaver combination on Corki is specifically highlighted as the highest-ceiling pairing in the trait, so if you're committing to 4 Fateweaver, building around Corki with Meeple active is the intended win condition.

How to play Fateweaver at each stage of the game

The trait has a natural progression curve. At 2-cost, you get Caitlyn and Twisted Fate online quickly, giving you the Lucky bonus for Twisted Fate's card draws as early as Stage 2. Milio at 2-cost slots in cleanly as you hit level 5 or 6. The real power spike comes when you hit Corki at 4-cost and activate the full (4) bonus, which hands your entire board 20% Crit Chance and 10% Crit Damage with Lucky crits on top.

For itemization, Corki wants standard AD carry items that benefit from crit. The 20% Crit Chance from the (4) bonus stacks with whatever crit items you build, so you don't need to over-invest in crit stats to reach meaningful thresholds.
