Swordsmanship transforms your Sims into blade-wielding nobles ready to duel for love, power, and cold hard Simoleons. This skill arrived with the Royalty and Legacy Expansion Pack, and it brings a completely fresh way to climb the social ladder in Ondarion. Whether you want to challenge rivals for someone's heart, fight your way to Dynasty Head, or simply collect every rare sword in the game, mastering Swordsmanship opens doors that no other skill can. You'll practice on training dummies, compete in tiered tournaments, and maybe even pull the legendary Simcalibur from its stone.
How Do You Start Building Swordsmanship?
Getting your Sim started with Swordsmanship requires one essential thing: a sword. Your first stop should be the Blacksmith's shop located in Verdemar, right next to Ye Old Voyager Bar. Select the shop and choose Ask Blacksmith to Craft a Sword to see your available options. Some swords remain locked until you reach higher skill levels, so beginners will start with basic options like the Wooden Sword.

Once armed, you have several training methods at your disposal:
Practice Dummy Training
The Swings 'n' Spins Practice Dummy is your bread and butter for early skill gains. Purchase it from Build Mode and place it on your lot. Your Sim can practice anytime without needing another participant, making this the most reliable training method.
Dueling Other Sims
Nothing beats real combat experience. Challenge other Sims to duels, and you'll gain skill points while also filling your Fun need. At level 1, you can only Duel for Fun, but higher levels unlock duels with actual stakes.
Skill Books
Head to any bookshelf, select Purchase Books, then filter by Skill to find the three Swordsmanship volumes:
- Swordsmanship Vol 1: Strike Left, Feint Right
- Swordsmanship Vol 2: Let Them Swing
- Swordsmanship Vol 3: Rodrigo, Joanne and other Swordsmasters
What Unlocks at Each Skill Level?
Swordsmanship is a level 10 skill available to Teen, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder Sims. Each level brings new abilities that expand your dueling options significantly.

How Do You Get Simcalibur?
The legendary Simcalibur is the rarest sword in the game, and only one exists. You'll find it embedded in a stone in Verdemar, directly in front of Ye Old Voyager Bar.
Pulling Simcalibur from the stone requires meeting specific conditions:
- High Swordsmanship skill level
- Noble status with Commoner Favoured reputation
- Some luck
Once claimed, Simcalibur requires maintenance. You must keep it happy, or it may become difficult to wield effectively. If you want another Sim to use it, the sword must be returned to the stone first.

Alternative Training Methods
If you own Discover University, your Sim can attend skill classes. Open the phone, go to the Business app, select Sit in on Skill Class (§250), and choose Swordsmanship. Classes run from 9 AM to 9 PM.
Owners of Businesses & Hobbies can use the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard to learn or teach Swordsmanship to other household members.
Swordsmanship Cheats
Want to skip the grind? Open the cheat console with Ctrl + Shift + C on PC, type testingcheats true, then use this command:
stats.set_skill_level major_swordsmanship [1-10]
Replace the number with your desired level. For example, stats.set_skill_level major_swordsmanship 7 instantly grants level 7 Swordsmanship.
With Swordsmanship mastered, your Sims are poised to conquer Ondarion's dueling arenas, claim legendary blades like Simcalibur, and ascend to royal heights—whether for love, legacy, or lavish Simoleon rewards. Hone your edge, rally your dynasty, and let the blades sing; the throne awaits the sharpest victor.
