The Division 2 Year 8 Season 1, known as Rise Up, is live, and it adds two new Exotic weapons and one Exotic gear piece to the pool. These aren't just cosmetic upgrades. Each one is built around the season's core philosophy of weapon swapping and adapting mid-fight, so knowing exactly what each Exotic does before you grind for it matters.

Agitator AR talent overview
What new Exotic weapons are in Rise Up?
According to Destructoid's breakdown of the Rise Up update, there are two new Exotic weapons this season: the Agitator, an assault rifle, and the Whiplash, a pistol. Both are built around the weapon-swap loop that defines Y8S1.
Agitator (assault rifle)
The Agitator runs on a talent called Perturb. Keep it holstered for 10 seconds to prime it. While holstered, it also generates 50% less threat, which is useful for builds that want to stay off the enemy's radar. Once primed and drawn, you get +25% bonus rate of fire and +30% weapon damage for 20 seconds, but the tradeoff is generating 100% more threat during that window.
This is a classic aggro-dump tool. Pull attention, dump damage, rotate out. The threat spike is a feature, not a bug, if you're building around it.
Agitator mod slots:
- Optics: +10% Critical Chance
- Muzzle: +50% Swap Speed
- Magazine: +20 Rounds
How to get it: Available directly from the season pass track.

Whiplash pistol talent details
Whiplash (pistol)
The Whiplash is the more mechanically interesting of the two weapons. Its talent, Faster Than Reloading, primes the pistol after it's been holstered for 5 seconds. When you swap to it while primed, it automatically reloads both your primary and secondary weapons. On top of that, you get +20% rate of fire and +50% weapon damage until the magazine is empty.
That +50% weapon damage on a primed draw is the number that should catch your eye. The pistol becomes a burst-damage finisher that also solves your reload problem on the weapons you actually care about.
Whiplash mod slots:
- Optics: +10% Critical Damage
- Underbarrel: +50% Swap Speed
- Magazine: +10% Critical Chance
How to get it: Drops from the Climax mission. The drop is not guaranteed, and higher difficulty settings increase your chances.
warning
Whiplash is not a guaranteed drop from the Climax mission. Run it at the highest difficulty you can manage to improve your odds, and expect to repeat the mission multiple times.
What's the new Exotic gear piece in Rise Up?
The Investor is the new Exotic mask added in Y8S1. Its talent, Slotted, gives bonuses based on the color of non-Core Attributes on the item:
- Red attribute: +10% Critical Damage
- Yellow attribute: +5% Skill Efficiency
- Blue attribute: +1% Armor Regen (PvP: 0.5% Armor Regen)
The Investor doesn't have a Gear Mode Slot. Instead, it comes with a third random attribute that can belong to any Core, which makes each drop slightly different and adds replay value to farming it.
How to get it: Available from the season pass track, same as the Agitator.
info
Because the Investor's third attribute is random and can pull from any Core type, you may want to farm multiple copies to find the combination that fits your build best.
Should you prioritize these Exotics?
If you're running any build that benefits from weapon swapping, both the Agitator and the Whiplash slot in naturally. The Whiplash in particular is worth the Climax mission grind because a passive reload on swap is the kind of quality-of-life talent that changes how a build flows. The Investor mask is more situational, but the flexibility of its random third attribute means it can fit into more builds than a fixed-stat Exotic normally would.
